Pokemon's Success Killed WB Cartoons, Says Animaniacs Creator

This is making me wonder if this would count under 'creator killer'. I mean Kids WB! didn't make the show, but if it ended up doing them in, it could fall under that trope.

Very interesting thing to know, given how nowadays, there's little to no Anime shows on broadcast television... As well as Warner Bros. Animation ones anymore where I'm at.

I should tell you: As much as I liked Pokemon, Animaniacs is my all time favorite cartoon series. It really wasn't much of a kids show, either - a lot of the humor could only be appreciated by adults - yet the lunacy and satire in many of the scenes were pure gold. I so truly missed it when they stopped making the show in the 00's in place of all Anime and Superheroes all the time. :(

I agree with you on that. I mean sure we are still getting some good animated shows from creators that know what to create either for certain fans of an animaiton stigma or newcomers to some degree.

I used to love "The Disney Afternoon" cartoon block that came on after school on ABC (I think). Free/over-the-air TV is totally different now. As much as I love Judge Judy, I don't know if she would have piqued my 1st grade interests like DuckTales...

I honestly think this is just the stigma that sticks with anime. A lot of cartoonists are still bitter about anime, and they try their best to put people down/destroy it for people.

They can't blame it on Pokemon exactly, this is what we call scapegoating. If you look at cartoons nowadays you can tell it's gone down the drain because of the FCC regulations - Not Pokemon. Creativity is stumped, and that's what has made people move over to indie or other groups that are more welcoming of their styles.

Seriously though, Animaniacs was a great show and I loved it. Along with Batman: The Animated Series.
