DPPt/HGSS Poor water and flying selection in-game for platinum

Just bought platinum, it is getting here in a week or so. I was trying to pre-plan my team but I'm kinda bummed out at the lack of A - Outstanding water types and B - Selection of flyers

Heres what we get for waters
Empoleon (I am really prejudiced against empoleon, don't know why, it just always bothered me)
Bibarel (Superpower level 48 looks nice but its not my kind of pokemon)
Gyarados (Of course gyarados is one of the best picks)
Golduck (Used to like golduck until I saw its stats)
Floatzel (Has good attack and speed, might be able to do something with it..)
Gastrodon (hate the way this thing looks)
Seaking (Seaking is alright)
Whiscash (only good thing is the high HP)
Quagsire (whack)
Pelipper (whack)
Azumarill (whack)
Octillery (I tried octillery before, great movepool but dies too fast and is slow)
Lumineoin (kinda weak)
Tentacruel (Probably one of my favorite waters)
Milotic (of course a good option)
Mantine (meh)
Vaporeon (cool but gotta wait until trophy garden)

Those are all my opinions on those water types. Milotic and Gyarados fit the bill for my kind of pokemon but the only water types I really like are Kingdra n Blastoise.

Crobat
Pelipper
Chatot
Murkrow isnt in the game

Togekiss and Yanmega might be cool, but couldnt make the best use of fly during-battle... Staraptor is a good pokemon and gets to the point so I might go with that

I have 1-2 weeks to decide my team

I know I need a flyer, a water, I'd like to have some poison and paralysis on the team as well as some very strong/fast pokemon so I can play with a variety of styles.
 
You think thats bad, just check out the lacking fire types mid game.

Anywho, you say you might be able to do something with Floatzel. Whats the problem?

You could get an eevee from that girl in Hearthome city and breed them. Wait...Ditto's in the trophy garden isn't he?
 
I think you get the Eevee post Elite 4, but I could be mistaken. And, if you have friends who have a Murkrow, you can trade for one.
 
For water types, I used Golduck but Floatzel is the better one you can use besides Empoleon.
As for Flying types, Staraptor is the best! It beats any other common bird! You may also use Togekiss but Starly is available earlier and Togepi sucks at attacking...
 
You can already get an Eevee in Hearthome City on your first visit unlike in Diamond and Pearl. Crobat's pretty good because he/she makes a good sweeper.
 
On my first playthrough of platinum, here was my pokes(at highest evo):

Infernape I picked chimchar because i knew there wasnt that many fire types you could get. REALLY helped in some tough spots, but i woudnt fully recomend him tho.

Floatzel I picked up buizel because i liked him and he didnt have the best moves at first, but in the end it really got some good moves. Ice fang helped me own cynthias garchomp, so yeah. he might not be the best at first, but ice fang can really help there.

Luxray Luxray is a really neat guy throught the game, and rivalry helped it a lot especially with wake. Not much else to say tho. I would also recomend him if you want a neat hard hitter too.

Staraptor staraptor is reallly neat in game and once you get brave bird, its owning time. especially if you want to make some hard hits come E4 time AND its intimidate helps out when your up against cynthias garchomp and you want to lower down that attack. really helpful, and is fully evolved lv 34 really would reccomend him.

Giratina I didnt really use him until E4 time, and that was a HUGE mistake. dragon claw can help with cynthias garchomp if you dont have any ice(moves) by that time, but dont use him unless hes around garchomps level
..i think there was one more but i cant remember. so yeah. i know this is for only water and flying, but im being nice here. also, NEVER use psyduck or chatot(unless you can yell loud in chatters case). so yeah, hoped i helped at all.

Floatzel-surf,ice beam, waterfall,blizzard
Giratina-shadow force,dragon claw,stone edge,psychic
Houndoom- flamethrower,dark pulse,shadowball,fire blast
Staraptor-brave bird,close combat,fly,u-turn

Bidoof as HM Slave

I have Scyther, porygon, meditite, togepi and dusclops that I might want to raise, but at the same time I want to save room for Lucario and a trusty water pokemon prob. Floatzel
