Price of competitive decks

Its been probably 2-3 years now since I last played competitively. Collected a few cards when Ex's were brought back, but last major deck I played was Vilegar. I have been considering possibly returning to competitive play due to gaining some time off on weekends from work after 2 straight years of working 6 days a week. Due to such circumstances I had turned to competitive magic and have gotten into Standard and legacy. Now with that being that said....

For someone returning to competitive play, what are the top decks to watch for. and what are the price tags on such decks. Due to playing magic, I'm easily going the route of buying singles to build the deck. And playing legacy, I definitely don't worry about price tags on top tiered decks.

Also with wanting to return to competitive play, has the pokemon community developed more towards where magic is? I know http://google.com/ was a decent site to read up on articles. But it seems to me that magic had a better grasp on articles, along with posting decklists left and right. I know with pokemon back when I played, it was next to impossible to "net deck" exact lists from top tiered players. Where as magic you have hall of famers constantly writing articles and posting their lists and tournament reports including top 8-16 lists ran. Has pokemon reached that point yet?

Top Decks right now:

Virizion EX + Genesect EX (roughly $200-$250)
Darkrai Sableye (Roughly $90-$100)
Team Plasma ($60-$85)
Big Basics ($100-$120)
Blastoise+Keledo Ex ($120-$140) +$175 for each Tropical beach you put in deck

*all totals are estimated retail prices for each single card, the totals include each Pokemon + any special trainers required in deck + $50 Estimated of common playset of staple trainers (ie N, Skyla, Ultra Balls, Junipers, Colress, etc)

wow, I'm fairly surprised at how cheap these are. But I guess that's from getting used to legacy magic and decks costing 1,000+

Are these based off Troll&Toad or what site for prices?

I didn't buy the cards, I know how much I needed for my Blastoise/Keldeo deck, it has no beaches (VERY expensive) but I (to make it faster in 1 month) traded some of my EX's of my LT Pre-Release for some Blastoise and 1 Lugia and other EX's, I bought a Red Gensect Collection Box to get some Skylas,Cilans and Junipers. I think I needed $95 USD to finish my Blastoise/Keldeo deck, my deck, that was modified several times by my League Organizer (he is a pro) works very well for me, I'll try to post my deck in the Deck Garage in some days

your league organizer is a pro? I didn't know there were pros in pokemon :/

There are no Pokemon TCG Pros like there are in magic the gathering where their salaries are the prize money they win.
Even the players in Pokemon who are top in the world have part time jobs doing other things.

I was trying to say that he knows very good how to make an excellent deck. But no pro like in Video Games, because the TCG is mostly luck, and thinking, because you can have a flawless deck but if you don't know how to use it, you will never win.

having a flawless deck and not knowing how to use it isnt luck, its skill. Luck does play a bit in TCG. You can be dealt absolute terrible hands or having key cards prized preventing wins. Building a flawless deck requires you to eliminate chance as much as possible and focus on skill & consistency.

There are also other decks too, cheaper but more rougue and a quite a bit harder to play. Such as Flareon which averages around $50 with staples and $20 without.

well like I said before, I have no problem buy a legit top tiered deck since I pay 500+ for magic decks on average, sometimes 200 plus on a single playset. But what are the recommended site to buy the cards off of and a good site to "netdeck"

The site to go to if you want just all the cards in your deck is troll and toad. Its the best for price on the basic cards but they do overprice ultra rates occcasionaly. For example if you want a virizion deck I suggest buying the most part of the deck on troll and toad, and the virizions and genesects on eBay or something so you can save just that bit of extra money.
