Standard Primal Kyogre EX

Introduction
First of all i'm kind of new to the TCG but i do get the basics and try to work out strategies. Anyway:
I have been experimenting with a Primal Kyogre EX Deck, and sometimes it works extremely well, but most of the time, nothing in the deck seems to work. It seems like the deck needs some kind of "connection" between the cards. The cards does not seem to work well together. I have tried to look around the internet for ideas, but all the ideas i can find of Primal fish decks are expanded format. I really want one that works well in standard format from XY and up.

Pokémon:

  • 2 Kyogre | PRC #53
  • 3 Kyogre EX | PRC #41
  • 3 Primal Kyogre EX | PRC #55
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums:
  • 2 Rough Seas
  • 1 Shrine of Memories
  • 2 Professor's Letter
  • 2 Lysandre
  • 3 Energy Retrieval
  • 2 Xerosic
  • 4 Skyla
  • 2 Steven
  • 3 Switch
  • 2 Energy Switch
  • 3 Dive Ball
  • 3 Kyogre Spirit Link
  • 3 Shauna
  • 2 VS Seeker
Energy:
  • 12 Water Energy
  • 2 Double Colorless Energy
Strategy:

My main goal is to get a Primal Fish loaded with energy as fast as possible. Then get some Primal Fish on the bench and load them with energy from the active Primal Fish's Tidal Storm. Then use the Switches to switch between the loaded Primal Fishs and the non loaded. The Energy Switch is for situations where i don't have a ton of energy. Then i use them to play around with the energy already in play because i have to move two energies from the active primal fish everytime i attack. Suprisingly that works very well - if i'm lucky.

Problem
The above only works if i am very lucky with my draws, otherwise it's basically a disaster where nothing works. I began to loose against every Mega Mewtwo Y deck as well as Night March and Vespiquen decks. So i began adding some trainers to help me counter those decks and now, nothing in my Primal Fish deck works unless i have a VERY lucky start.

Either i have no energy and i have tons of Kyogres, or i am loaded with energy and the i only have the normal kyogre non-ex in play and no trainer cards to get the EX fish out.. Just the opposite when i need energy.

The two Normal Kyogres PRC #53 i only added because i had problems against such Pokémon as Regice with Ressistance Blizzard. So i thought i needed something non-ex to be able to attack.

The Shrine of Memories is when i evolve the fish to the primal fish in situations to get more HP because it would die otherwise, then i can still attack with Water Pulse from the non-primal ex fish if i am low on energy.

I tried my best to implement trainer cards in the deck so i could search for both energies and fish. Or trainer cards making me search for other trainer cards to search for both energies and primal fish. AND a few trainer cards to help me counter Mega Mewtwo Y decks... or Night March and Vespiquen for that matter.

I really hope someone has an idea for the deck, because i would really like a Primal Fish deck.

You need more non-supporter cards which have draw power such as Shaymin-EX (ROS), Octillery (BKT) and Lucky Helmet.
Then you can use Skyla to get the Professor's Letter, Energy Retrieval, Dive Ball, Kyogre Spirit Link or Mega Turbo.

Another problem is the heavy retreat cost. This stops you from moving the fully charged bench Pokemon to attack until you have Switch or Zoroark (BKT) with Float Stone. Zoroark (BKT) is a good Pokemon to replace Normal Kyogre against Regice. With the help of Zoroark (BKT) and Float Stone, you can use Rough Seas to recover the hurt Kyogre-EX and move another Kyogre-EX to attack.

To against the decks which use special energy, Jirachi (XY Promos) can be added to slow them. Also, Assault Vest can be attached when Kyogre-EX does not have enough energy to attack and want to evolve to Primal Kyogre-EX. They may need 3 hit to knock out Primal Kyogre-EX with the help of Assault Vest and Rough Seas.

Shrine of Memories may help opponent's M Mewtwo-EX to use Damage Change to become full HP. I suggest not to include it.

Overall suggestion:
Kyogre - 2
Jirachi + 1
Zoroark + 2
Zorua + 2
Octillery + 2
Remoraid + 2
Shaymin-EX + 2
Dive Ball - 1
Ultra Ball + 3
Shrine of Memories - 1
Professor's Letter - 1
Energy Retrieval - 2
Energy Switch - 2
Mega Turbo + 2 (Only way to charge 4 energies in one turn)
Xerosic - 1
Skyla - 2
Steven - 2
VS Seeker + 1
Switch - 3
Escape Rope + 1 (One more way to against Regice with Escape Rope and Lysandre)
Float Stone + 2
Kyogre Spirit Link - 1
Lucky Helmet or Assault Vest + 1
Shauna - 3
Professor Birch's Observations + 3 (Better than Shauna if using Octillery)
Giovanni's Scheme + 1 (Enable Tidal Storm to knock out 170HP Pokemon)
Double Colorless Energy - 2
Water Energy - 2

Thanks man, i will try to see how it goes, i still need 3 cards in the deck as there is only 57 after your changes however?

I want to point out there's some neato cards in the upcoming set that'll work pretty nicely with Primal Kyogre-EX (which I've actually been thinking of doing myself):

Palkia-EX – Water – HP180
[W][W] Aqua Turbo: 40 damage. Search your deck for 2 [W] Energy and attach them to 1 of your Benched Pokemon. Shuffle your deck afterwards.

[W][W][W][W] Pearl Hurricane: 120 damage. Choose 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokemon. This attack does 30 damage to it.

Manaphy-EX – Water – HP120
Ability: Aqua Cube
Each of your Pokemon that has any [W] Energy attached to it has no Retreat Cost.

[W][W] Mineral Pump: 60 damage. Heal 30 HP from each of your Benched Pokemon.

As well, Lapras XY and Articuno ROS might be some nice additions:

All these cards focus around energy acceleration I should note, as that's always the issue I've had with P Kyogre. With Manaphy you can freely retreat off of Palkia into whatever you've charged up using Aqua Turbo and finish it off, while leaving Palkia ready to come back in if needed. Lapras and Articuno play bulky together in my experience, but if you run Lapras it's nice to run some Battle Compressor to get energy ready into the discard, or just run a one-of to toss some late-game energy into play.

It may be the problem that your deck list is not 60 card.
My Suggestion deck list (full 60 card):

3 x Kyogre EX | PRC #41
3 x Primal Kyogre EX | PRC #55
1 x Jirachi | XY Promo #67
2 x Remoraid | BKT #32
2 x Octillery | BKT #33
2 x Shaymin-EX | ROS #106
2 x Zorua | BKT #89
2 x Zoroark | BKT #91
Pokemon total 17

1 x Battle Compressor (Usually discard one energy for mega turbo, 2 supporters for VS Seeker)
2 x Dive Ball
1 x Energy Retrieval
1 x Enhanced Hammer
1 x Escape Rope
2 x Mega Turbo
1 x Professor's Letter
3 x Ultra Ball
4 x VS Seeker
3 x Rough Seas
1 x Giovanni's Scheme
2 x Lysandre
3 x Professor Birch's Observations
1 x Skyla
1 x Xerosic
2 x Float Stone
1 x Lucky Helmet
1 x Assault Vest
2 x Kyogre Spirit Link
Trainer total 33

10 x Water Energy
Energy total 10

Max Elixir, Manaphy-EX and Lapras are good choices to replace Zoroark and Mega Turbo if you like.

I was even looking at the new set, manaphy ex and golduck break might be some other cards you can find useful. Palkia ex and golduck are the main pokemon I would consider adding to the deck. I'm currently in the process of making the deck
