I'm pretty excited for Prof. Layton vs. Pheonix Wright, I think it's selling a lot of 3DS.
So far Curious Village is my favorite though.
HOW ABOUT YOU GUYS?
I absolutely love this series of games. Apparently there's one coming for the DS and one coming for the 3DS (IIRC) but the Phoenix Wright one is supposedly not coming to the States. Such a shame tbh.
Are you sure the Pheonix Wright one isn't coming to DS? I thought I read a preview about it in Nintendo Power. I've played Curious Village and Diabolical Box, I didn't get my hands on Unwound Future yet.
Yuuuup.
Forgot I made this.
But goonness.
How did y'all first come across Professor Layton?
Are there any Puzzles you're particularly proud of or anything?
I started playing them on my friends Acekard that he loaned me.
And I'm pree proud of solving that puzzle where you get the three wolves and three ducks across the river in as little moves as possible on ym first try.
I saw the trailer, thought it looked cool and got it! Layton's challanges. I couldn't do some some of them without a guide, but I'm proud I could do any of them at all!!
I'm currently Playing Lost future, I'm at the point where mysteries, 1, 3 4, 5 and 6 have been solved, and all of them are revealed. I think I'm half way through, so I'll go slow a bit, the last bit i played was something about, me meeting some dude at a bridge and underwater footprints? I've had to loom up 2-4 puzzle's so far, the rest are pretty plain. Also, will there be one after this one, in terms of after this story, because apparently the game after the third one is about how Luke met layton.
I will finish it soon though, for i am the playerking Insert evil laugh.
Yes there is going to be another one after this so far all we know is that its name is The Mask of Miracle and its for 3DS
As for the prequel its called The Spectres Flute and its only out in Japan so far, it tells the story of how Luke and Layton meet and how they meet the woman who's with them in The Eternal Diva.
My favourite so far was Pandora's Box, the ending was so sad and I loved the soundtrack.
I heard decent reviews for the first game and I was extremely intrigued in the kinds of puzzles in it. I bought it, played it, finished it and wanted ten more games of it.
i played the first one. most of the puzzles were really challenging but i didnt finish it. are the other ones as good as the first?
edit: now searching professor layton vs pheonix write im pretty exited now. i am in love with the pheonix wright games and if they brought him back i would be really happy. i havnt played the new ones of those eather. like the miles edgeworth game...is that one any good? is it like the old ones or is it all investigating?
The series itself is revolutionary. The games alone are golden to knowledge.
My favorite is Unwound future, mostly becuase of the depth story and the ending that will make you shed your man tears.
I wrote a review for another Forum, so I thought I will just drop this off here. If I could find an easier way to Spoiler box this, I would have done that.

The Unwound Future
-The Review-
-Background to game
The English have a good life; no one is blaming them for having crumpets and tea half past noon, or wearing hats and having a chivalrous attitude, at the same time speaking in the well known accent of the English. While greeting each other with a standard "Hello" is courteous, some people greet each other with Puzzles, and if your name is Professor Hershel Layton, you won't be greeted any other way.
Hershel Layton is a professor of a university, hence why he is called Professor Layton, and he is teaching archeology to his students. One of his pupils, not in his class since he is young, is Luke Triton. Luke is learning under Layton, not history of artifacts, but puzzles. The Professor and Luke have been great friends over the years, going on adventure after adventure, but their friendship will only grow deeper as the saga continues on. While Layton's past is still being put together by each coming game, his future is where we will find him in this journey.
Positive:
The familiar atmosphere that all Professor Layton games give you is back. You get the feeling that you've done this before in past games, but none of the other games can compare to the events and mysteries that this one holds.
With every Layton game, there is a new array of characters: some as lovable as others and some quite the opposite. Which is the how and why you still enjoy them today. There are some reoccurring characters, but they have a different role in this game.
The new mini games are a grand time waster to the game. With 3 fun things to choose from, you won't be bored quite so easily, because the more puzzles you complete, the more levels you can do.
The towns are more expansive and you have more area to maneuver around, which means more puzzles to find. There are 4 major places you will be, and many smaller areas that you will be going through.
The acting is superior, and the movies are excellent. It adds more depth to the characters that are newly introduced. There is 37 movies to watch, and many songs to listen to. The ending music is worth the nine hours of game play you will put into it. The song is soothing, sad, happy, and joyful. It is hard not to smile with a tear rolling down your cheeks, after you see the scene just before the credits. Layton's them is my other favorite song there. Its originality and peppiness is qualified for the next SSB game. I would pay 35$ just to watch the game be in a movie form.
Then final 3 chapters are where the real magic happens. With over seven cut scenes in those few chapters, you get a hold of the game if you got lost. The entire Plot takes a twist when you find out that
Dr.Staughn, or Dimitri
is doing all of this out of love for Professor Layton's girlfriend,
Claire.
After you find out what is taking place, you wonder how bad is trying to save someone? It normally wouldn't be bad,
unless you tricked, and took all of the scientist of London, lied to them about the time travel, and made them work on making a time machine. Lied about time travel? Yes, it was all a hoax, the entire "future city" is under ground, and nobody knew it until late in the game. It was all under the command of...Future Luke, or Clive. Clive is seeking revenge on the Prime minister for blowing up his apartment, and killing his parents, from a science experiment.
Negatives:
The Puzzles are a bit repetitive, even though this is a new game, which means new puzzles, and you may start avoiding them like people avoid wild pokemon battles. But you need a certain amount of puzzles solved to get further and further in the game. Some just lack detail, and some other ones lack sense. Thankfully enough, there is an added hint, the S. Hint, and will significantly help you in all you troubles. Hidden puzzles are on the border line of crazy hard to super simple, just a matter of perspective on how you think.
You tend to go back and forth a bit too much throughout the game, and you can easily get tired of seeing the same thing twice. Or three times for that matter. They cut down traveling time with a handy subway, which can go up to three locations.
Flora gets on your nerves quite frequently in the game. She doesn't seem as nice as she did when you first met her, all the way back in the Curious Village. Her repetitive ability to whine in every circumstance is annoying.
Overall:
The game resolves so nicely, everything makes sense, and you finally get a grasp of what happened. One of the scenes that will give you Goosebumps is when
Layton and Luke get inside the new Layton car and everyone is giving them advice, encouragement, and help. Then Don Paulo, who isn't evil in this, gives Layton a really helpful hint for the future. Then Layton and Luke take off.
This game will give you an ending that is one to remember; you will cry. It gives you a bubble in your throat that you can't swallow, and once you do, you feel bitter and just start thinking. Slowly your eyes get filled up some, then you take a long blink and sure enough, you are crying. Then the credits role by, and you think it is done...Until you see the next scene...It is a good thing you are already tearing up from the previous seen, because you will be sadden too.
This is my favorite game out of the series, and the creators of this game infiltrated my emotions, and made me an addictive player to the series.
