Proper Way to Shuffle?

The rules say you may do any shuffle that takes less than 2 min., doesn't let you see their cards, and doesn't damage the cards in anyway.

1) Go to a tournament with >60 people.
2) Put 1 card of your deck on every other player's table
3) Tell them to return the cards to you.
4) Profit

Anyway, pile shuffling with a number that's not a factor of 60 is fine too. By this, I mean 7, 9, 11, etc.
Then I usually put half the pack into the other half a few times, and that's it.

I shuffle a lot like Yugi in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime - I take a portion from the middle of my deck, place that on the top and repeat several times at high speeds - the fact that I shuffled like Yugi made me popular at school xD

I use that shuffling method for everything, and it's the way I'm teaching my five year old brother to shuffle. It can be painful with certain kinds of folders, but with Pokémon cards it's comfortable due to the rounded edges. The only risk is if you are trying to be a show off and shuffling too fast, the cards can go flying in your face.

There's no "correct way", but to get the best results, I do a few a pile sfuffle, and a bridge shuffle between each game. That sfuffles them thoroughly.

What I find best is to make 6 different stacks, and to play one card in each stack until all of my cards are in the stacks, then I pile them on top of each other and ghetto-shuffle a bit more to randomize it a bit more.

What I personally do is seven-pile at the beginning of the game (to increase randomness), then for regular shuffles such as deck searches, I just shuffle normally. I'll sometimes three-pile in top cut, but not in Swiss. It depends on your preference, and how much patience you have. But yeah, there's no "proper way", it's all preference.

mm, if you want a propere Pile Shuffle:

Pile shuffle for 6 stacks in this formation:

| | |

then, take the 1st, 3rd, and 5th stacks, shuffle them together, and shuffle the 2nd, 4th, and 6th stacks together.
Then take the 2 piles left and shuffle them. [I know it's redundant to go on like that, but this way, you shuffle no stacks that are touching together at fist. This way, if you have 2 rare candies next to each other, they go to seperate parts of the deck. Works well for people who run trainers like PokeDrawer or PokeBlower.]

Step 1: Take your deck
Step 2: Randomize in any way you want

I usually do the casino dealer where you bend in the middle and snap downwards. doesn't hurt the cards and randomizes. Also a:

Formation works nicely

6 stacks aren't allowed, since its easy to make a pattern that way. You may not use any amount of stacks that can be multiplied into 60. Therefore, 7 is a better way.

There's also the shuffle that's been dubbed the pwnage shuffle; pick up your deck, throw it at your opponent and have them pick it up.

^^^ I read somewhere in the rules that you get DQed if you do this. haha

^ lawls, i got called for intimidation cuz a lean back in my seat and apparently "encroach" my opponents foot space. also i got in trouble for my bench looking to sloppy once. on topic, i agree with most everyone else and say pile shuffle. i personally prefer the seven pile method.

I've never read that 6 pile is illegal. Tons of people do it, including me lol.

A strict judge could get you on it. Theoretically, it is very easy to stack when you do a 6 or 5 pile shuffle. I did some minor testing myself and found that I indeed could easily make certain combinations appear. That's why 7 or 9 piles tend to be better. I myself go for 7.

people prefer 6 as it fits into 60 easily, but could you stack as easily with 7 or 9 its all just learning the spacing right?

Well hey, be my guest and use whichever amount of piles you want, I'm just tellin what I know y'kno? Yeah 6 fits in 60 easily, thats EXACTLY why its so easy to manipulate. With 7, this becomes a lot harder.
