Ruling Protective Orb and Brick Smash

If I use Dark Marowak's Brick Smash to attack my opponent Defending Pokemon that already attached a Protective Orb(it has fighting weakness).Does Brick Smash goes through the effect of Protective Orb and this attack does 60 damage?
 
i'm saying yes becuase it's basically another Swift, except that weakness on the defending pokemon works. Basically, if the opponent was weak to fighting type and it had a protective orb ATTACTED to it, that's an effect ON the defending pokemon. So Brick Smash goes right through it and takes out it's weakness for 60 damage. It works for Ex Emerald's Deoxys Ex while versing Dustox Ex.
 
Brick Smash ignores all effects on the defending pokemon, and Protective Orb provides an effect of stopping weakness on the pokemon to which it is attached to.
 
I think this could be quite controversial, but i actually agree with u people that protective orb's effect is supposed to be cancelled out by Brick Smash's effect.
