This was sort of inspired by LORDY JONES, and I had a perfect window of oppurtunity. My sister gave me her Saphire just yesterday, I saw LORDY's thread today, and might as well do a solo run, which I have never done before.

LOG: I start out with Mudkip and beat May's Treeko with it, get the Pokeballs, and catch a Ralts lv4 on Route 102, and this is my one pokemon that I will use. Nicknaming it Psynuke, I look at the status page to check it's stats. Oddly enough, it has a Modest nature! Sadly, Ralts doesn't learn any attacking moves until lv6, so I level grind by switching out a lot and eventually get to learn Confusion.

One trainer on the way has a Poochyena, and I have no choice but to switch to Mudkip. Sorry if this breaks the rules, but it had to be done. I will only use other pokemon if I absolutely have to.

At the end of the route, Psynuke is lv7, and so I heal up and head to the Gym. Wally catches his Ralts (mine's better :p), and I head off again to Rustburo.

On a trainer right before the Rustburo Woods, Ralts is KO'd by a crit, and I'm forced to kill it with Mudkip.

In the woods, I battle a few people, including an Aqua grunt. He has a Poochyena, so more forced switches.

Out of the woods, I encounter a Double battle and obviously have to use Mudkip again.

I try to defeat this gym several times and I just can't beat it without Mudkip. So, I level grind to the northeast to lv15.

REBATTLE- I use an X Defend to start, and he uses Rock Tomb to lower my speed. Then I use with 6 Double Teams to get max evasion. I use an X Special, and I 2HKO'd Geodude, and 5HKO'd Nosepass.

Now, I head off to Save the Devon Worker's Goods. I defeat the Aqua dude (with Mudkip because, of course, he has a Poochyena.) Then I magically warp to the top of the devon building and get the Pokenav, then head out to Mr.Briney's house to boat to Dewford. I head into the gym, beat all of the trainers, and heal up.

I lead with Ralts, and he leads with Dialga Machop. I 2HKO it with Confusion, and also 2HKO Makuhita. Too easy.

After defeating that easily, I head out to the cave where Steven is supposed to be, but I remember that I need Flash. So, I go catch a Shroomish to teach it to. Then after a while, I give Steven the letter, and it's off to Slateport City!

In Slateport, I battle all the people on the beach and gain a few levels.

... What?

Congratualtions! Ralts has evolved into Kirlia!

MORE COMING SOON!

Hatman, you blatantly disregarded SOLO RUN RULES against that Poochyena.

JK, just imagine me typing it with a less cruel tone.

EDIT: Plural Poochyenas!

EDIT 2: Nice tactic against Badge One, though.

I did a solo game of Ruby using Beautifly only. I picked Treecko, let Poochyena run away, and ran from every wild Pokemon I ran into until I defeated May and got Poke Balls. Then I stuck Treecko in the box after I caught a Wurmple (at level 2; lucky me) and that was it.

Double battles I play with the rules that all teammates must be KOed before attacking the opponent. When I did this in HeartGold with my Chikorita solo, some of these battles were actually very difficult to win (I actually lost once to a Magmar + Sunflora team).

I imagine the only difficult part of doing a Gardevoir solo is, of course, the early-game when you don't have any non-Psychic attacks. That kind of defeats the purpose of doing a solo, doesn't it? I suppose using another Pokemon for those pokemon only would be acceptable, but I'd rather just as soon _not_ do a Gardevoir solo for that very reason.

Oh well. Have fun with it, I guess.

This. Hatman you should consider restarting and choosing something besides Ralts. I know that seems outrageous, but I'm kinda picky about "Solo Runs"

Gardevoir (Kirlia) can learn Secret Power, but that's three badges in and, in my opinion, past the point of doing a solo.

If one wanted to be as pure as possible (the fact that you _have_ to use other Pokemon to get Ralts to learn a move that hurts notwithstanding), you'd have to grind on a bunch of noob Pokemon until level 36, when Ralts learns Future Sight (which hits Dark-types).

At this nice little fact, Hatman, I heartily suggest restarting. Perhaps Mightyena? Or maybe Linoone? Or even Pelipper, Swellow, or any of the starters.

Hm, I may do other runs later, but I'm already 4 badges in with Shock Wave as a move (TM), at a level 37 Gardivoir. I guess I can beat the rest of the game :D

I like the idea of choosing a hard pokemon to train and using it for a solo. I never thought of using a Ralts, and the crazy thing is, Ralts is one of my favorite pokemon(really, Gallade is.).
