BW/BW2 Pushing the Envelope

Hey everyone, thought this would be a good idea for a thread. So here it is- BW expectations.

Ever since the initial release of DP, fans were already contemplating the region to follow. I am sure many had ideas they wish were to be incorporated; and now, seeing a good number of screenshots and videos, how has the 5th gen matched up with your expectations so far?

I am not necessarily talking aboutwhat new pokemon you want, as there seems to be a few threads about that already, but more along the lines of say game mechanics, detail, etc. (but if there is something worthwhile to say about the new pokemon please do).

Here you could also mention those things which you feel have “busted the envelope”, something that has come across as being to new, too different, or too much a stretch. This could very well be a good idea incorporated, but one that strives away from the origin of the series? (Hope that makes sense).

For example, such expectations for me were that the game would move away from static images, a new, less complicted way to access HM's.

One thing I think might not work- Triple battles. Can this succeed as well as the double battles in RSE? I don't know, but i can say it will be interesting to watch.

Is this for pessimist? If so I hope it doesn't have those graphics that the burnt tower had in HGSS

I've enjoyed everything I've seen so far. Absolutely love all the new pokemon and the non-static sprites are awesome, Isshu looks huge and complecated. I just hope they don't totally alienate the "traditional pokemon gameplay", like gyms and the elite four.

I agree with everything you stated. I truly hope they need some new twists to the battle system.

So far the game looks epic with the features shown.I hope there are more things that we dont know yet.

I had hoped that the moved woul look real. So, if they used scratch, the pokemon arm would actually move to scartch the other. i know this is not going to happen, because in one of the videos, Chiraamii used Sweep Slap, and It didn't move it's arm.

It can be if you want, I just thought it be a good way to express what your expectations were for the 5th gen, and how they have held up so far with all the news. But if there is something in the 5th gen you wish to bag on, go right ahead.

But yes it seems as though the moblie sprites are what everyone is really excited about. About time. Hopefully when we won't have the "Houndoom shooting flamethrower out of its eyes" anymore.

I also really want move animations too. All these pokemon (excluding ugly Munna sorry Munna fans :p!) have exceeded my expectations! I really like Reshiram and Zekrom also. =P

Potential Munna is Drowzee pre-evo fans will not be happy with you. haha. Yes watching the first videos of BW with all the new animation really was great. An addition to the pokemon games I will gladly welcome.

Yeah probably! :D

I really like the battle sprites too they look awesome! Especially Zekrom's!

when D/P came out, I was hoping that I will see a very high-tech/industrialized/futuristic legendary pokemon.

B/W meet my expectation for this: Zekrom.

And the highly industrialized Region, specifically the city Hiun, also made me meet my expectations. But not at the fullest..I was wanting more futurustic than this.

The thing that didn't met my expectations:

Purely different story line, no gym battles anymore, but I don't mind though.

We don't know if there's no gyms yet! :D

Also the size of this region is something I think is impressive.

Actually, Gyms are confirmed. That honey hive place is one I guess.

dmaster out.

Thanks for the info master of d!

Okay, this region has everything I want in it! Expectations met! =)

I would have to agree. But I wouldn't put it past GameFreak to include something in it that will out do my expectations of the game, making me love the new series even more.

Game Freak had me won at "Big, Black, Evil-Looking Electric Dragon."

I think what I'm most excited to learn more about though is how you'll be able to move your game to the computer and do stuff there, and the possibility of multiplayer a la MMO-like (or rumored to be). I think this is really impressive and very cool and I can't wait for more information about it.

Very true. I totally forgot about that feature. I most likely won't use it, but I was very impressed nonetheless. Could Nintendo be trying to stop the pirated versions on the pc?

Yes, the moving sprites are awesome, but I hope there will be an option to turn off the panning in and out during each attack. Or maybe a way to only have that happen for the most epic moves. Meh...

One thing I've always wanted is multiple save files, and now with the uploading your game to the Internet feature that finally seems possible.

I also thought trainer customization would be nice, and whaddya know, White High-Link! Looking forward to seeing the details of that for sure. Hopefully you'll get to accessorize your sprite and such in addition to choosing what type of trainer you are.

Multiple save files, that would come in handy. Not really as important now, but when I was younger I tended to have a problem of my sister saving over my games. The horror!

Could you explain the White High-Link? I never exactly understood what the idea of it was. I thought it might have been for online battles and trades, but I am not to sure.

Right, it's basically a multi-player area, maybe akin to the Underground in Sinnoh. I only know as much about it as anyone else, though I believe the Pokemon Centers would already take care of battles and trades.
