So I think I've crafted a viable competitive deck that could dismantle DeciPlume and many of the other top tier decks. It's inspired by Quad Lapras and the Sylveon GX decks run recently in Japanese competitions. It's my first attempt at deck building since I was playing competively as a kid, but I enjoy MTG and always play Control and this feels similar!
Pokémon (8):
- 4x Eevee (Energy Evolution)
- 4x Sylveon GX
Supporters (14):
- 1x Delinquent
- 1x Lysander
- 2x Team Flare Grunt
- 1x Team Skull Grunt
- 3x N
- 4x Professor Sycamore
- 1x Pokémon Ranger
- 1x Hex Maniac
Items (28):
- 4x Crushing Hammer
- 2x Enhanced Hammer
- 4x Puzzle of Time
- 4x Fairy Garden
- 2x Level Ball
- 4x VS Seeker
- 4x Fairy Drop
- 4x Max Potion
Energy (10):
- 6x Fairy Energy
- 4x Double Colorless Energy
Strategy
You'll likely have to mulligan at the start of the game to get one of the four Eevee in your opening hand. It's okay! You want them to burn through their cards and you have plenty of hand hate to force them to discard.
Turn 1: Place a Fairy Energy on Eevee, who will fetch Sylveon GX from the deck and evolve on the spot. Use Magical Ribbon to pull what you need for turn 2. If you don't already have a Double Colorless Energy in your hand, pull that for sure.
Turn 2: Place the Double Colorless Energy on Sylveon. He's locked and loaded! If you had to mulligan a bunch this is a good time to use N and trim their hand. You should also start disrupting, shear off Energy off emerging threats with Hammers. Swing in for 110!
Turn 3+: Continue disruption, there's a lot of answers in this deck. What you deploy varies by circumstance. If things get too hot, pull the "Oh Snap!" Button aka Plea GX to bounce the threats back to your opponents hand. This can be coupled with Lysander to bench the Active threat in preparation for Plea or an N after Plea to force them to discard some of the components to the threat.
Wear them down. Deflect threats. Exhaust their resources. Foil plans. Pull back-up Eevee with Level Ball if it's needed and hit them with a Fairy Energy to insta-evolve a replacement.
