Discussion Quad Sylveon Disruption

So I think I've crafted a viable competitive deck that could dismantle DeciPlume and many of the other top tier decks. It's inspired by Quad Lapras and the Sylveon GX decks run recently in Japanese competitions. It's my first attempt at deck building since I was playing competively as a kid, but I enjoy MTG and always play Control and this feels similar!

Pokémon (8):

- 4x Eevee (Energy Evolution)
- 4x Sylveon GX

Supporters (14):

- 1x Delinquent
- 1x Lysander
- 2x Team Flare Grunt
- 1x Team Skull Grunt
- 3x N
- 4x Professor Sycamore
- 1x Pokémon Ranger
- 1x Hex Maniac

Items (28):

- 4x Crushing Hammer
- 2x Enhanced Hammer
- 4x Puzzle of Time
- 4x Fairy Garden
- 2x Level Ball
- 4x VS Seeker
- 4x Fairy Drop
- 4x Max Potion

Energy (10):

- 6x Fairy Energy
- 4x Double Colorless Energy

Strategy

You'll likely have to mulligan at the start of the game to get one of the four Eevee in your opening hand. It's okay! You want them to burn through their cards and you have plenty of hand hate to force them to discard.

Turn 1: Place a Fairy Energy on Eevee, who will fetch Sylveon GX from the deck and evolve on the spot. Use Magical Ribbon to pull what you need for turn 2. If you don't already have a Double Colorless Energy in your hand, pull that for sure.

Turn 2: Place the Double Colorless Energy on Sylveon. He's locked and loaded! If you had to mulligan a bunch this is a good time to use N and trim their hand. You should also start disrupting, shear off Energy off emerging threats with Hammers. Swing in for 110!

Turn 3+: Continue disruption, there's a lot of answers in this deck. What you deploy varies by circumstance. If things get too hot, pull the "Oh Snap!" Button aka Plea GX to bounce the threats back to your opponents hand. This can be coupled with Lysander to bench the Active threat in preparation for Plea or an N after Plea to force them to discard some of the components to the threat.

Wear them down. Deflect threats. Exhaust their resources. Foil plans. Pull back-up Eevee with Level Ball if it's needed and hit them with a Fairy Energy to insta-evolve a replacement.

cut the Double Colorless out for regular fairy energy. You also do not need any draw since you can get the three cards you need, every single turn, unless you're opponent N's you but in that case you would take 6 cards as you are trying to deck the opponent out.

The DCE's are what sets up Sylveon to swing for 110 on Turn 2. And while Sylveon has a card draw ability, you only want to use it the first turn it's out to either grab a DCE or some disruption tools. You need to be blasting for 110 every turn because he doesn't hit as hard as a lot of other GX/EX mons. The card draw elements are there so you can get get the disruption tools/answer tech to keep threats to a minimum while Sylveon is blasting them.

When I was designing this deck I had Turbo Darkrai and Deciplume in my crosshairs. That's what the eclectic mix of supporters is for.

I personally would go all in for disruption, as you still would have an autowin against deciplume. Really this deck is an upgraded version of quad lapras

I'm pretty excited you guys think this deck is viable. Sylveon is my favorite Pokémon and this is my first attempt at deck building. I can't wait to build it!

How vulnerable to rotation do you guys think this deck's components are? From what I understand, rotation isn't as cut and dry as it is in MTG.

Most of the deck is fine after rotation. The main cards you lose are Lysandre, Level Ball, and Hex Maniac. You can replace Level Ball with Nest Ball to get the same effect. Losing Lysandre and Hex Maniac might change your strategy a bit but, you will likely have Acerola, Escape Rope, Pokemon Catcher, and Repel in your deck.

With your current list, I suggest more disruption and less draw Supporters, since you are using Sylveon to get whatever cards you need. If your opponent uses an N, it can be to your benefit. Also, more Fairy Energy because you don't need to damage your opponent every turn to win. It plays more like a mill deck; very similar to Quad Lapras as triplemo said. Given Sylveon's high HP and 4/4 of healing item, you normally don't need to retreat. In situations where you need to retreat, a Switch, Pokemon Center Lady, and/or Olympia can be more beneficial.

Rough Draft of Changes:
-1 Ranger
-3 Sycamore
-1 N
-2 DCE
-2 Fairy Garden
-1 Sylveon-GX
-1 Level Ball

+1 Lysandre
+1 Delinquent
+1 Team Flare Grunt
+4 Fairy Energy
+2 Parallel City
+1 Olympia/Switch
+1 Pokemon Center Lady

As a fan of Quad Lapras and energy denial decks in general, this is a deck I'm looking forward to. It's essentially the same deck, but it can't use FFB and needs Stage 1's. The benefits are that it has a much better GX attack (which, with Skull Grunt could be absolutely brutal) and a more consistent main attack, and much better weakness/resistance typing.

As for changes...

Drop Ranger for Special Charge (sooo many enhanced hammers out there these days)
Drop three Sycamore for a Judge, an Olympia, and a Hala (the only thing you really WANT in your discard pile here are Supporters and you want to be well positioned to play the deck-out game. No sense discarding things willy-nilly to try to go all turbo)

This deck may not be tier 1, but it's going to be super fun.

i think for energy you can play 2 DCE 7 fairy & one special charge as you really need a T1 sylveon-GX or you will be donked.
You could also cut fairy drop from the deck as 4 puzzle and 4 max potion will likely be enough to heal each turn.
fairy drop itself in this deck is bad because most decks under this heavy amount of disruption could not 1 shot you anyways. You should just max potion whenever you have 150+ damage on you.
