Help Question about deck building

when you're building a deck, and you choose to add EX or M-EX pokemon.. do you have to use the EX to evolve into the M-EX?

Example: Glalie-EX into M-Glalie-EX?
 
Yes, you must evolve a Mega Evolution Pokemon from its basic EX counterpart like the example of Glalie EX into Mega Glalie EX. I specify basic EX because a stage 1 Glalie or Glalie-GX cannot evolve into M Glalie EX.
 
Evolution cards will tell you what they evolve from. (It's at the top left, near the stage. In M Glalie-EX's case, it says "Evolves from Glalie EX" under the card name.) It's usually pretty straightforward, though. Just keep in mind the card names they say they evolve from matter. Raichu cannot evolve from, say, Pikachu-EX or Flying Pikachu, it can only evolve from a card whose name is Pikachu, and similarly, Team Magma's Aggron can only evolve from Team Magma's Lairon, not a regular Lairon.
