Question About Matchups

When people are testing a deck against many different decks and they come up with the numbers like (75-25), (50-50), etc, how do people actually get those numbers? How many matches are usually played against each deck?

Just to clear things up I know what the numbers mean. I just want to know how they're calculated.

That really depends. Some people just pull them out of the air. Some people make educated guesses based on weakness and overall deck speed. Most people tend not to test a whole lot. I test around 20 times and then just multiply by 5. I feel that testing is still more than most other people. Overall Matchups aren't really needed they are just something to inspire debate.

play 4 games and test how many times you win out of those games (the games that were skill not just games where you get a basic a 6 NRG and then your opponent gets T1 kingdra) which would then = 0-100, 25-75, 50-50, 75-25, 100-0

To be honest, matchups must either be derived by pure debate and theory, or needs a heck of alot playtesting...

And when I say playtesting, I mean against all possible good variations.

^You can't expect anyone to do all that unless they go to 7 leagues a week, and @DOX, 20 matches vs. any deck...heck, the most I'll ever play vs. the same deck is 5 times, and that's only when I get REALLY bored at a BR and want to waste time.
Me, I try to build a new deck every week, so I can hardly seriously test them, if at all. If I look at the flood of decks some people drop at the Deck Garage, I see that other people do the same. I like to think that it keeps my gameplay fresh, if anything.
The matchups? They have nothing to do with playtesting. The most in-depth they ever go (if at all) is a guess because the other deck has Weakness/you have Resistance. Like that even matters. Yes Dusknoir is weak to T-tar and T-tar resists him, but that doesn't mean he can't win. Speed, power, recovery, bad starts (@the one who said you only count matches with "skill"..that's ridiculous. Sure, I could ignore all those matchups and have an almost perfect win record. Heck, while I'm at it, I'll ask the Judge at Worlds to ignore my losses because of bad starts. Why not?)...all things to consider if you want a so-called "educated" guess. With which you'd probably be the first. All match-ups so far are completely biased. I think the only way to ever get real estimates is a collaboration project, like DOX's thread on the metagame. Until then, I advise everyone to refrain from producing these ridiculous, biased guesses.

i didn't say ALL matches that were bad starts, i'm just saying the games where it's totally unfair (like when all 4 of your main attack basics are prized, that's just plain unlucky) but if all your games turned out this way then that would be the official matchup.

Notice most match-ups always side the card or deck you're writting about even if it doesn't make much sense. Maybe it's just there to make the card look good. Match-ups aren't necessary really. Anyone with more than half a brain could figure out the better deck.

You have no idea how I am like at playtesting. But the rest of your argument is true..
