Ruling Question About Reverse Holos..

Dunno if this is the right place, but it's a game mechanic, right?
I have some holo energies and Full Art cards in my deck. One of my friends went to a big tournament and they made him take out all his reverse holo supporters and replaced them with Grass energies. Should I take out all my reverse holos/Full Arts/holo energies for Nationals?

If your entire deck is reversed then no. If you just have a few cards reversed then yes. The reason being that reverse holo cards warp and bend. So if you just have your supporters reverse then it looks kinda suspicious and you can be accused as a cheater. For example: you have only your supporters reversed. It's your turn and you have an oak's new theory in your hand. You don't want to play it because you kinda like your hand. You then look at your deck and see the top card kinda arched. Now this means, if only your supporters are reverse holo, that your next card will be a supporter. You don't want to top deck a supporter, so you play the oak's to get a new hand and shuffle your deck. Since you knew the top card was something you didn't want, it influenced you to play a card that you would not have played anyways.

It's not a game mechanic, but i guess this falls under tournament
As long as they aren't counterfeit cards he should be allowed to use them with no problem. There are some instances where holos can be bent to create a marked card situation (not intentionally, they tend to bend on their own), but even then the judge should make them use a card in better condition (the same card though) or they have the option of issuing proxies. But they shouldn't not allow you to use a card simply because its holo.

So you can take them to nats, if your worried that some might be a little bent, you can bring some non-holos to replace them. They only reason they typically make you put basic energies in is if there are inconsistencies with your deck and the deck list.

To clarify what I was saying. You don't HAVE to replace them. It's a courtesy thing. The instance with your friend seems like he had cards in his deck that were either not on his list or they were rotated out or even badly damaged. You can play with holos so don't worry there. But if they are to badly bent then you may Want to use non holo versions of them.

I agree with this. I wouldn't deny a player of being able to use a RH card. I'd work something out where either I issue a proxy or loan him a non RH.~KA
