I have a cool idea. At least I think I do.

Pretend that sometime in the near future, there will be a DB of all Pokemon cards on the front page. And next to each specific card scan there will be a search function to search through forum posts in this forum for people who have that specific card/want that specific card. In other words, people can click a button to perform a search and see who has/wants the card they're looking at, thus making it much easier for people to trade their cards.

But here's the catch. In order for the searches to work, EVERYONE will need to use a standard format in their first post for their haves and wants. For example, something like:

Haves:
2x [Card Name="Espeon" Set="Neo Discovery" ID="9292" Type="Have" Condition="" Comment=""]
2x [Card Name="Pikachu" Set="Pikachu World Collection" ID="1212" Type="Have" Condition="Played" Comment="No wrinkles though!"]

Wants:
1x [Card Name="Venonat" Set="Base Set" ID="999" Type="Want"]

Although you will have to use a standard code like the above, you will be able to c/p it from the card DB into your post. So it won't be totally painful. In fact it might be ridiculously easy. However, /everyone/ would be required to use this format for every. single. card in your haves/wants list (with no exceptions). So for those of you listing 500 cards, you would have to do it for each of them. (Though to be fair, it probably wouldn't take you more than a few hours.) But everyone would have to follow a standard format.

Would this be something you guys would be interested in? What do you think?
 
I would certainly like the idea, particularly as I'm looking for particular cards ATM. And an even easier DB sounds awesome!
 
As someone who is primarily interested in trading Japanese cards (and I'm certainly not the only one here), what kind of support would this have for Japanese and other foreign cards? Or would it only be for English?
 
Only for English. If you have Japanese cards, you could just list them how you'd like to.
 
Where would you do the search from? The front page? If I'm looking for 50 cards would I have to individually look all 50 cards on the search page?

I don't know if drop-down lists with boxes that we could type in the number we want would be easier, but the idea sounds promising.
 
Sounds not too bad assuming you can also search the thing for the code itself, Like if I have Phanpy I can search the thing for "Phanpy" and perhaps it would also list the specific code for the card so I can just c/p that.
 
So I spent about 3 hours typing out the proper format for just my Dark, Psychic, and part grass, and it does not seem to work when posted. It is a huge mess. :(
 
This would make finding cards SO much easier, as you wouldn't have to go into every thread and look at the lists. Totally for this.
