i dont know if this is the right place to put this but, can you play a rare candy and evolve a machop into machamp on your first turn.

I don't think you can.You see,no evolving on the first turn.Althogh,I could be wrong.

It depends who goes first. If you go second, you are able to play a Rare Candy to evolve Machop to Machamp.

Yes, since Lv.X cards don't count as evolving, they are the same stages as before. For example, Mewtwo Lv.X is a Basic and Garchomp Lv.X is a Stage 2.

ok, I have a new question, does mewto level x count as a basic pokemon

No. It will only count as a Basic Pokemon once it's been leveled up from Mewtwo LV.X. Until then, it's just a Pokemon.

Your statement makes no sense whatsoever.

Lv X properties.

A level X card is neither a basic pokemon nor evolution card. A card that can search any pokemon (bar those specifically restricting pokemon lvl X) may search out a pokemon lvl X, but a card that searches a specific kind (Rosanne's Research, Professor Elm's Training Method) cannot.

A level X card soaks up the properties of the card underneith it. A lvl X placed on top of a basic pokemon (Mewtwo, Darkrai, an Infernape placed on the bench by Garchomp Lv X) will remain a basic pokemon. The HP, type, weakness, resistance, and retreat of the old pokemon are overwritten, but all other stats on the card soak through.

When something happens to a pokemon level X that would effect its evolution stack, the lvl X remains somewhat attached to the same card it was placed on top of. Player A has an Infernape Lv X with 4 damage counters on it, player B pushed up Dialga GE. It has enough energy for "Flash Cannon", an attack that shuffes the top evolution card from the defending pokemon into the opponent's deck. Infernape Lv X is ignored, as it is not an evolution card, so the underlying Infernape is shuffled into the deck. The Lv X remains with the Infernape, so it will also be shuffled into the deck.

Coincidentally, the Monferno is also knocked out because it now has 8 damage counters, but that is moot.

I'll answer any remainig questions you have.

Just a small correction there... cards that said "Basic Pokemon or Evolution Cards" were ruled to be counted as simply saying "Pokemon"... not that that has ANY bearing on the current Modified Format. :p

That only affects Celio's Network, IIRC. Professor Elm's specifically states only evolution cards may be searched for.
