As far as multi/rainbow/double rainbow etc. energies go, if an attack says to "discard 1 [fire] energy" or "does 10 damage plus 10 for every [water] energy attached", do these multi/rainbow/double rainbow energies count? Or do I have to have basic energy attached to discard, etc.? Thanks!

if it needs basic energies, then it would say "for every basic water"
as long as basic isn't mentioned, multi-colored energies count

As long as you apply any effects that the energies have then it will count towards attacks.

For example, having a Multi Energy and a DRE energy attached to a Pokemon would mean that the Mutli counts as a colourless energy (since of its effect) and DRE (counting as 2 energy, but all energy types) would -10 damage off the attack's base damage.

Like c-m said, if it specifically asks for 'Basic' energy then special energy cards dont apply, otherwise the rest of the time they do.

I hope that makes sense, but that's just an example.

Thanks - yeah that totally answered my question!

New question RE: Cradily d from EX: Holon Phantoms

Cradily's Harsh Fluid attack says to "Put 5 damage counters on the Defending Pokemon at the end of your opponent's next turn."  So if my opponent plays a switch/retreats his/her Pokemon:

1. Do I put damage counters on the new defending Pokemon or the one I did the attack to?

...or if he/she plays a Warp Point/Gust of Wind, etc., or if Cradily is knocked out:

2. Do I still get to put damage counters on anyone since Cradily is gone?

Thanks!

It'll be easier to do this as an example...

Lets say you have Cradily active and your opponent has Bayleef active.

If you use Cradily's Harsh Fluid it will do the base damage of the attack and place the effect on Bayleef. During your opponent's next turn if Bayleef evolves, devolves or moves to the bench (by retreat or switch) the effect of Harsh Fluid placing counters is cancelled.

To make it easier to understand here's the reason: Harsh Fluid is specifically targeting Bayleef as the active Pokemon. When/If Bayleef evolves, devolves or moves to the bench, the active pokemon is no longer Bayleef therefore the effect is cancelled.

As for the 2nd question i'll need to confirm it since i'm not 100% on the answer, and I don't want to give an answer to find out I was wrong.

the 2nd question:

let's take bayleef again as def. pkm.

if bayleef didnt evolve/ devolve/ switch/ retreat, u still get to put 5 dmg counter on bayleef no matter what happens to cradily δ

Thanks =) So I guess the tricky thing would be to keep the opponent from retreating/warping their Pokemon, huh? Maybe it's not such a great card after all lol

Actually not. About the harsh Fluid thing, if your opponent evolves, devolves, retreats or whatever, Harsh Fluid's effect will be lost. And if Cradily dies, the effect will still remain (but not sure about that).
