I just started playing so I have a few questions about some abilities, trainers & energy cards.

1. For Vanilluxe'sabilities Slippery Soles, does the opponent choose which pokemon to switch or do I choose it for them? Same question for Pokemon Catcher.

2. If I attach a blend energy to Blastoise, will it increased the Hydro Pump's damage?

3. Can I remove the tool that already been attached to a pokemon or do it stay until the pokemon been knocked out?

4. Superior Energy retrieval stated that 'you can't choose a card you discarded with the effect of this card'. What does it mean?

5. Can I use Raticate's Transfer Junk if I only have either Team Plasma's Pokemon, trainer card or energy in the discard pile?

That's all my questions for now, answers are very much appreciated.

1. For Vanilluxe, it explicitly states "your opponent switches." For Pokemon Catcher, you do the switching.

2. Anything providing water energy powers up Hydro Pump.

3. You'd have to use something that has an effect that allows you to remove it, like Tool Scrapper for example.

4. Say you discard two energy cards in order to play SER. You can't pick the two cards you just discarded as any of the 4 energy cards you are about to retrieve.

5. You can. Do as much of the attack's as you are able.

1) "Your opponent switches the Defending Pokemon with..." = Your opponent chooses.
"Switch the Defending Pokemon with..." = You choose.

For Vanilluxe NXD Slippery Soles, your opponent chooses who to bring up. For Pokemon Catcher, you do.

2) As long as it is a Blend WLFM, yes, it will increase Hydro Pump's damage. Just note you can't attach it with Deluge, as it does not provide {W} when not attached.

3) A card is only discarded from a Pokemon when that Pokemon is Knocked Out, or when discarded by a card effect such as Tool Scrapper. You cannot choose to discard cards without the use of an effect.

4) You know how you discard 2 cards to use SER's effect? It's simply stating you can't pick up 1 of those cards again. This applies to any card where you must discard cards in order to use it - Junk Arm, Superior Energy Retrieval, and Dowsing Machine, to name a few. You cannot pick up a card you discarded for the cost.

5) It's an attack, so do as much as you can. If they do exist in your discard pile, you must take them (up to 1 of each). If they don't, you just pick up as many card as you are able (up to 1 of each).
