Rally's Fake Cards!​

These are my first fake cards, and I decided to try some old Base Set blanks. I'll come up with a set list to, but its more than likely going to feature Pokemon of the Hoenn Region. I have a basic one shown up just to give you a gist about the cards that might be featured. All of them are done by scratch, as I find more enjoyment that way! Critique, comment, rate, whatever your heart desires.​

Does anybody know some good re-sizing techniques that don't mess the quality?​

Looking good, but the font for the pokedex info seems off.

Also I'm pretty sure Regigigas isn't 'Regigas'.

I'm not really a font wizard, (font is actually my weakness) but just experiment and see what comes out best.

Unfortunately, there are no resizing techniques that won't decrease quality. The best technique I've found is to increase the image size y 10% increments with Bicubic interpolation, but this usually only works about twice and is better for photos than other graphics.

Could you list exactly what fonts you're using on each part of the card? Some of them look a little off (I can tell immediately that the HP font is wrong). Sizes could also use a bit of work (name is too small, HP and flavour text is too big, etc).

HP- GillSans STD Bold Condensed
Poke Info- GillSans STD Bold Italic
Dex- GillSans STD Bold Italic
Illus- GillSans STD Bold Condensed
Wizards Seal- GillSans STD
Attack Name- GillSans STD Bold Condensed
Attack Info- GillSans STD
Damage- GillSans MT

Okay, it looks like you have the fonts right except the HP, which needs to be Futura Std Medium Bold or Century Gothic Bold. For sizes, it helps to place an official card on a separate layer and type over the card (or use a font guide).

Obtain a vectorized version of the artwork. Most artworks use photoshop, so don't expect to get a vector, unless you're lucky to find a willing artist who made it in a vector image program.

I don't get "Extra Senses"? You can kock out all of your opponent's Pokémon with a Ralts in one turn?

Thanks for reminding me. I might only once before you attack, but I was looking at the wording for another card, so I should probably change that. :|

Cards are looking good descriptive and creative-wise, apart from that little hiccup with the power.
Ditzy Song should have the name of the attack next to the effect and moved right ever so slightly and up maybe 5 or 6 pixels along with its energy and damage. The energy and name Psychic Shift needs to be more centered.

Much better than your first one. Still a few things off. Like Delta pointed out, the attack name needs to be on the same line as the effect (like your Spinarak card). Also, the Pokémon name needs to be moved left about 1 or 2 pixels, the WRRC symbols are too big (you used energy cost symbols, but your symbol sheet should have some a bit smaller for WRRC), and that rarity symbol is a bit too big.

You're making progress. Keep it up.

I also like how big it improvement it was from the Spinarak card (except for the minor details). :] Are you saying that the name should be lined up square to the left side of the picture?



Also, I updated the Ralts card with improved wording and correct symbols. I'm still not too sure about the placement...

I was using this card as my base, so you can see how I got the color for the PokePower from.

Not really sure about the "either" part, because Ralt's PokePower was only supposed to affect one single Defending Pokemon at a time. I see how it can be misinterpreted though. Thanks for the help! I'll try to keep future cards as well worded as possible. :]

Are you saying that the name should be lined up square to the left side of the picture?

I meant it needs to be moved right (lined up with the Basic Pokémon text), not left. My bad.

Ralts looks pretty good, though the effect text of the Pokémon Power could be slightly bigger to help fill up the area and should probably be re-worded as "Once during your turn (before your attack), put 1 damage counter on the Defending Pokémon. This power can't be used if Ralts is Asleep, Confused, or Paralyzed." The flavour text (description) should also be moved down a bit (about 2 pixels, I think).

As for the Pokémon Power's color, though Base Set Psychic-types did use purple, I suggest using blue (like this), as it is easier to read.
