But if you're like me and can't read Japanese..

Rayquaza – Dragon – HP120
Basic Pokemon

[L] Dragon Pulse: 40 damage. Discard 2 cards from the top of your deck.
[R][L][C] Tear Through: 90 damage. This attack’s damage isn’t affected by any effects on the opponent’s Active Pokemon.

Weakness: Dragon (x2)
Resistance: none
Retreat: 3

I mostly play casual Unlimited so I can't speak for standard but to me this seems like a pretty cool Pokemon. One Electric Energy for 40 damage on a basic? You have to discard two cards from your deck but that can be somewhat negated with decks that can use Eeletrik or somewhat worked around with Research Record. Its also compatible with Eviolite and has effectively no common weakness (depends on how the rest of the set is) paired with 120 HP makes it very durable for a basic. Its second attack is pretty bad but its something, and in a pinch I guess it could clear out a few things in your way.

Is there any use for this card?

I don't see it being used in competitive play all that much, the first attack like you said is probably the best. 1 for 40 isn't bad at all the draw back being obvious (discard 2 cards) but research record could make this work in your favour (if you want energy in discard) but that's assuming you find energy when you look at the top of the deck

I am interested to see the full dragon set and not just the mini set, I think we will find most of the good dragon type cards in there :) Perhaps another wicked Garchomp :D another Charizard would be great to!

It could be used in some kind of Eelektrik/Zekrom/Tornadus build to catcher oddish and Solosis T1, but I think the x3 retreat makes him risky.

In my opinion is kinda bad. I was really looking forward to a broken rayquaza, but this is only sorta good. You could put this in magneboar for a straight 90 damage (Even though there aren't many Magneboar). Its first attack is really the only good thing about it. Its retreat is poor, but I do like the artwork.

Rayquaza is bad. Period. 1 for 40 is terrible in an EX infested meta. Just becuase a new card came out doesn't mean it's good.

This card will see no play in competitive play. That is for sure. Here's why:

1) It get's OHKO'd by anything. Zekrom, Reshiram, likely Mewtwo, etc. Even with an eviolite, Zekrom and Reshiram could burn right through it with a PlusPower.

2) It's attacks are TERRIBLE. Even though it has the potential of donking, anything donks better. It's just not worth discarding the top two cards of your deck.

3) It's second attack is also bad. There is no reason for this attack to be good. Zekrom and Reshiram do more for the same amount of energy cards, but have great accelleration to help them.

4) It has 3 retreat. Again, this card is outclassed by Reshiram, Zekrom, and pretty much anything else in that area.

Overall, don't play such a terrible card. It's not going to see play, and never going to.

I think that it may see some play in MEZ. It is overall a bad card, but you can use the discarding to your advantage (Magnetic Draw and Dynamotor) If you run it with plus power it will get a fairly high amount of donks,

Why not just use thundurus?

So you can donk and do damage turn 1. Thundurus is also good, but has a tiny bit lower HP and can't do anything on turn one. It also can't toss garbage in your hand like spare collectors. It also gives you another type advantage to work with.

The type advantage is only relevant against other dragon types, none of which are playable yet. Also, you can't control what you discard. Thundurus can hit for more damage, so by T2, they both have hit for the same amount of damage, except rayquaza has more retreat and is more destructive.

I think you misread the card. It discards from the deck, not from the hand. If it let you discard two cards from your hand, it would be fairly good.

Oh, never mind then. It is a pretty bad card. It is just a slightly worse card then tyrogue
