(Rayquaza EX / Emboar) Rayboar help for states

Hi, I'm trying to gear up for state tournaments for this year, and it's actually going to be my first tournament ever. I'm using a Rayboar deck, and need some advise!

Pokemon: (18)
  • 3 Tepig Legendary Treasures
  • 1 Pignite Legendary Treasures
  • 3 Emboar Legendary Treasures
  • 3 Rayquaza-EX
  • 1 Reshiram
  • 2 Delphox
  • 2 Fenniken
  • 1 Braixen
  • 1 Exeggcute
  • 1 Rayquaza
Trainers/Supporters/Stadiums: (30)
  • 4 Superior Energy Retrieval
  • 4 Professor Juniper
  • 3 Rare Candy
  • 3 Ultra Ball
  • 3 Switch
  • 1 Tool Scrapper
  • 1 Super Rod
  • 2 N
  • 4 Skyla
  • 2 Professor's Letter
  • 2 Skyarrow Bridge
  • 1 Master Ball
Energy: (12)
  • 9 Fire
  • 3 Lightning
It's an emboar deck so it's all about ramping up Rayquaza-EX to use Dragon Burst for an OHKO. I'm just wondering what I should work on/change. Thanks!

Edit: I forgot to put in the muscle bands... I think they'd help

Edited to coincide with the rules! I also modified your strategem slightly to be a bit clearer. Please remember to be a bit more clear in the future, as to prevent any sort of confusion! :D ~Kecleon

You could knock down your Fire to 8, that's what I play. Also, Dowsing Machine is perfect for this deck. These are the changes I would make:
  • Dowsing Machine
  • 4 N
  • 4 Rare Candy
  • 4 Ultra Ball
  • 2-3 Tool Scrapper
  • 1-2 Switch
  • Escape Rope

I hope I didn't try to make this deck too much like mine, it's just what's been working for me. I love the 2-0-2 Delphox line, I need to try that out. Good luck!

I actually play a 2-2 line of electrode and that works well enough for me.... But yeah, rayboar is pretty fun.

I just bumped up my Delphox line to 2-0-2 and cut out my Electrode line and it's working wonders for me.

ok cool. I was thinking it would be a good fit. I'm just worried about the set up time. A lot of decks are really quick. I did play a game without Delphox, the deck can rebound well.

Delphox ups the consistency and draw power so much. I'll post my deck list in this subforum right now and you can check it out if you want. :)

I've never played RayBoar, but I'll give you my best opinion on it.

-1 Switch
-1 Professor's Letter*
-1 Master Ball
-1 Fire Energy

+1 N
+1 Dowsing Machine
+1 Ultra/Level Ball (Explained below)
+1 Rare Candy

Ok, you'll need 3 N for consistency, 4 Rare Candy is neccesary in a deck with 2 stage 2 lines, and Dowsing Machine is a great Ace Spec for this deck, it's super clutch and much better than Master Ball. For the Ultra vs. Level Ball, it's just a matter of personal opinion and testing. You have a lot of things searchable by Level Ball, and it can get you that Exeggcute to get it discarded, but since you have the Exeggcute, the discard from Ultra Ball doesn't hurt you too bad.

*I took this out because I really don't think that 2 is neccesary, if you don't want to take it out, you'll have to remove either the Braxien or the Pignite (I would suggest Braxien).

It's a solid looking list, and I hope that this helps.

Oh, missed the Exeggcute. Definitely take it out. Starting out with it can be very bad, and overall, only discarding one for Ultra Ball and SER isn't that big of a deal, especially when you can Ultra Ball away energies that you can retrieve later.

Ok, thanks for the help! I guess I had overlooked the exeggcute being replaced by energies and the Super Ret. I had tested it some and put in 4 Ultra Ball and also the 4 Candies. My biggest concern is how this deck will go against meta. I have no idea what to expect at states... since it's such a broad area I would think everything. Zekrom (the outrage one) for blastoise and Yvetal. Plasma is basically just a speed run. I have a plasma deck as well, but the thing that has me on the Rayboar deck is the ability to OHKO a mega. I don't know if they'll be played much (if at all). The most a Lugia-EX would be hitting for is 180 so I think I may go with Rayboar.

This is how it looks (approximately) as of now

Pokemon: 14
2 Tepig
1 Pignite
2 Emboar
3 Rayquaza Ex
1 Rayquaza
2 Delphox
2 Fenniken

Trainers: 34
4 Superior Energy Retrival
2 Professor Juniper
4 Rare Cany
4 Ultra Ball
2 Switch
4 Skyla
1 Dowsing Machine
4 N
1 Professor's Letter
1 Escape Rope
2 Level Ball
1 Heavy Ball
2 Tool Scrapper

Energy: 12
9 Fire
3 Lightning

Blastoise decks arn't weak to electric. Keldeo and blastoise are weak to grass.

Maybe a baby quaza for their BKEX's.

There aren't a lot really good techs for keldeo except maybe leaferon, but you can use your baby quaza for BKEX's.
