Hey everyone! Here's the current list for my Rayquaza deck that I plan to take to Cities next week. The main problem I'm having is getting the exact cards I need (such as Catcher) at the right time. Any tips at all would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :D

POKEMON:
3x Rayquaza ex
1x Shiny Rayquaza
TOTAL: 5

T/S/S:
4x Pokemon Catcher
2x Enhanced Hammer
1x Tool Scrapper
2x Revive
2x Skyla
2x Ultra Ball
1x Max Potion
1x Computer Search
1x Energy Switch
TOTAL: 16

ENERGY:
19x Fire
20x Electric
1x Prism
TOTAL: 40

Like I said, any help is appreciated. Thanks!

You run no Supporters... Y u no run Supporters? Is that typical of straight Rayquaza?

Yes, pretty much. There's no need to really, it's just another thing to get in the way of Celestial Roar.

Speaking of things getting in the way of Celestial Roar, take out the Enhanced Hammer. Most decks don't need Special Energy to function well and the chances of you drawing it at a crucial time are slim. It's more important to consistently discard Energy off of Celestial Roar, so you should take out the Enhanced Hammers for more energy. I would take out the Tool Scrapper also, but it's up to you.

Keep in mind this isn't the most competitive of decks though. Even with the changes I suggested, the chances of it doing well are slim. I'm not trying to hate on the deck, I just want to make sure you know what you're playing.

Really? 20+20=20? :p
Anyway...
-2 Emolga
-4 Enhanced Hammer
+2 Ultra Ball
+4 N

Ultra Ball will help to get out extra Raquaza when you need them, and a well timed N can really hurt some decks and this gives you an advantage against other decks that use Dragons (Hydriegon, Garchomp, RayEels, ect.). Emolga isn't needed imo, but if you feel like it works, then by all means use it. I guess it's just preference, though I would prefer a T1 Celestial Roar than a T2 Celestial Roar.

Well, you mentioned not having Catcher when you need it (due to no Supporters :p) so what about Skyla? With Skyla, you aren't completely at the mercy of top decking the stuff you need. It's also the only Supporter in format that actually searches for something (besides Cilan, but you don 't want to be getting energies out of the deck), so with Skyla, you are actually increasing the odds of Celestial Roar netting you energies. That's just my two cents.

ill be honest man, if I was gonna run this deck, it would be 4 Rayquaza EX maybe 2 baby rays (shiny) and the rest energy. I feel like i would want to hit big every turn. I would also run a split like 80% one type 20% the other. If you have 54+ energy in your deck your gonna hit the lower type most of the time in a 7 card hand. The idea would be to get that (lets just call the 20% fire) fire on and then celestial roar for at least 2 if not 3 lighting. I have never tested this although i should cause it could be fun but that is what i would do!

Ha ha. Yes. Forgive my intense math fail. xD

needs 4 prism.
prisms can count towards attack but can't be discarded.

No. Prism Energy would be completely useless because the attack states that it does 60 times the amount DISCARDED not the amount attached.

And okay. Thanks for the advice everyone. :D I dropped the Emolgas, took out 2 Hammer and added 2 Ultra and 2 Skyla. I updated the list. Also, I was considering maybe running an Energy Switch or two but i'm not sure yet. Anymore advice would be appreciated. Thanks again!! :D

Just curious, but what does Energy Switch accomplish? Not saying it's pointless, I just don't see the synergy or an instance it would be of use. Anyway, I find myself fascinated by this deck. Do let me know how you do at Cities. Oh, and good luck.

bro i am telling you.
you want prism energy in this deck.
my buddy ran quad rayquaza ex with 2 regular rayquaza during BRs.
he won 1, and topped 2... and he ran prism...
prism is really good with rayquaza

My friend runs Rayquaza as well and he's been urging me to add in Energy Switch because he says it's helped him out a lot so that's why I wanted to give it a try. :) And okay. I shall post my cities results once it's over. :D

so glad someone else is trying to run this deck, its so fun! this is my build ive been using on play tcg the past couple of days:

pokes:
x4 ray ex
x2 thundurus

supporters/trainers/stadium
x4 skyla
x4 catcher
x4 ultra ball
x1 switch
x2 skyarrow

energy
x19 fire
x20 lightning

this deck is super fun to play right now especially in the first turn. rayquaza only needs one turn to setup a ex ko next turn, while landorus and darkai need at least 2 to start doing some real damage. thundurus is there to try and deal against sigyliph (i really cant find any other workable options). imo, skyla is what makes the deck more competitive. it gets whatever trainer i need when i need it and thins out the deck for a better chance at c. roaring for just energy. i have a single copy of switch in there for paralysis pokemon. matches go really quick with this deck. online, ive managed to beatdown
3/4 blastoise/keldeo decks ive played, and a good number of landorus ex based decks also. it can does okay vs speed darkrai, but it struggles vs darkrai/hydregion from what ive seen.

i have also thought about using energy switch, but most of the time your only powered up ray is your active one. so i guess energy switch is just situational? ive been playtesting with energy search a little and i think it helps more in the situation where you need specifically a fire or lightning energy to get the ko. but adding more trainers just hurts the chance of getting pure energy w/ a c. roar so i cant decide whether or not to add it to the list for sure.

Why don't people ever run First Ticket? There is no downside to hitting it with Celestial Roar (aside from it not being an energy) and it can majorly increase your chances of only giving your opponent one turn before you start KOing EXs. Because you go first, attach and Celestial Roar. You should hit 2 energy. Your opponent goes, can't evolve and (probably) only gets one energy out. You attach and Dragon Burst.

Also, Pokedex could increase your Celestial Roar odds.

I would suggest:
-2 Tool Scrapper
-2 Enhanced Hammer
-1 Revive

+4 First Ticket
+1 Rayquaza DRX (so Sigilyph doesn't auto-win.)

I would suggest running pokedex for celestrial roar so u r getting energy instead of trainers

While First Ticket might seem good in this deck because it has so much room, the chances of hitting a basic AND First Ticket are so low that it's almost always going to be a a useless 4 spaces. That's the reason First Ticket doesn't work; if you run it a deck with very few basics and a lot of room, then the chances of hitting it with a basic are low, and if you run it in a deck with a lot of basics, there's not room for it.

And I don't see the point in running Pokedex when literally 2/3 of your deck is energy. Mathmatically speaking, you are likely to get two energies on Celestial Roar, and that along with two turns of attachments should be plenty to KO an EX.

You just keep the Prism on there for the Energy cost you're not using. It helps when you can only Call into a hand full of Lightning or Fire and screw up your game.

Good point. I didn't look at it that way. I might try it out. :)
