Standard Rayquaza GX/ Zeraora GX - Post Rotation

This list can’t technically be classified as expanded but is a post rotation deck for after XY rotates on.

As soon as I saw Ray GX I fell in love, energy acceleration is basically how i play.

I just want to put this deck on here so you guys can help me improve it as I only made this a couple of days ago.

I opted to not put in Vikavolt into this deck because it takes to long to set up and with our other cards like Latias prism and the rayquaza gx. Acceleration is meant to be fast but vikavolt would take a couple of turns and we would be clogging up the deck with other resources to set it up like rare candy etc.

Rayquaza GX won in Japan on its own without Vikavolt or anything.

I chose not to put in wishful baton but instead a choice band because if I do get knocked out I can accelerate that energy back or use Zinnia to attatch three energies that turn to compensate for the energies i lost in the discard.

(NOTE: TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THIS IS FOR WHEN SHUCKLE COMES OUT TO HELP)
But the deck can be easily changed to run without him

I was thinking of adding Xurkitree to counter special energy decks but I wanted to see what you guys think.

So here's the decklist:

Pokemon: 9
Rayquaza GX x4
Zeroara GX x1
Latias Prism Star x1
Shuckle x1
Tapu Lele x2

I'm running Zeraora for obvious reasons because it gives my pokemon free retreat. This is extra helpful after the loss of float stone.
Latias is for great acceleration, and shuckle to get energies in the discard to accelerate.

Supporters: 14
Zinnia x1
Acerola x1
Guzma x3
Stevens Decision x1
Lillie x1
Cynthia x4
Sightseer x2

Stevens decision is to turn one or for when I am in a losing position and need a couple of cards to pull off a good combo.
Sightseer is great for discarding more cards and Acerola for emergencies.
Zinnia is for when our pokemon get KOed and we need more acceleration to make up for the loss of turns to attach energies.

Items: 15
Mysterious Treasure x4
Ultra Ball x4
Escape Rope x2
Rescue Stretcher x2
Pal Pad x3
Field Blower x2

Pal Pad is a must because we need access to supporters we already used.
Mysterious treasure can get Rayquaza, Latias and even Lele which is nice.

Tool Cards: 3
Choice Band x3

Stadium: 2
Devoured Field x2

I'm not sure about a stadium so I just put this in so you guys can help.

Energies: 16
Grass Energy x8
Electric Energy x8

Heavy counts of energy are definitely needed.

Sorry the post was so long but it would be great if you guys can help
And I realise this should be Alt. Format

Hi aPOLLo,

Nice deck. Consider these modifications:

Pokémon:
+ 1 Drampa SM6a / Zekrom SM6a / Tapu Bulu SM8 (to have a counter to Hoopa and a decent one-prize attacker)

Supporter:
1 Tate and Liza (draw)
3 Sightseer (draw)
3 Guzma (control)
4 Cynthia (draw)
3 Lillie (draw)

Items:
4 Mysterious Treasure (search)
3 Rescue Stretcher (retrieval)
3 Field Blower (discard)
4 Ultrea Ball (search)
1 Pal Pad (retrieval)

Tool:
2 Counter Gain (nice in the mirror match and other fast decks)

Stadium:
3 Devoured Fields

The three Lillie at first seem excessive but you will find yourself with lower hands rather often in the post rotation format. The trainer line worked real well for me thus far but Counter Gain is a new addition that I want to test out. At present I use Wishfull Baton instead. Hope this provides some initial assistance.

Yes it really does, i was looking for a counter to Hoopa and forgot drampa to accelerate etc.

I dont think counter gain really helps as we will be attatching as many energies as we can. Choice band for me is better as I will usually have 3 energies anyway.

If im not running wishful baton zinnia can attatch multiple enrgies and is great. I already tested her and found her successful. Also i rather sightseer over lillie because i can discard energies to accelerate before i draw until i have 5 cards.

However I want to get rid of Stevens Resolve as I've found him useless in my deck tests.

Thanks so much for the advice, ill take it into consideration

Im thinking of either adding Drampa for its acceleration or Bulu for its 120 damage potential after i use Zeraora GX’s GX move.

Probably Bulu. My normal setup is to discard with shuckle and then use Zeraora GX to turbo charge energies.

Hi aPOLLo,

Never needed Choice Band on Rayquaza GX but it could be nice on Zeraora GX. Still want to test Counter Gain myself since you can send in a Rayquaza GX with two energies attached while keeping the ones with three energies attached on the bench. Happens more often than one would imagine. I personally prefer Tapu Bulu or Zekrom as non-Gx attackers since both can ohko Hoopa. Test out Lillie. You will be surprised how often she comes in handy. She is also the ideal turn one supporter in this deck.

Yeah i had stevens resolve for that but i will take it out and swap it for a Lillie

And yeah i decided to use bulu

Thanks for the help! :)

Hi aPOLLo,

You could potentially try this modification from the trainer list I suggested:

- 2 Counter Gain
- 1 Pal Pad

+ 3 Acro Bike

Still testing to see which version I like most.

Hi again,

Honestly since the loss of vs seeker pal pad is almost vital to keep access to all the supporters we losr, and i have found it successful in my tests.
I will keep testing and working on it to improve it,
Then re-post the deck profile in a week or so
Thanks for the help.
