RBY Trainer Battle Remix

Hopefully this is the correct thread to post this because I have never posted outside of the "fix my deck" threads.

This is my remix of the classic Trainer Battle theme from Pokemon Red, Blue and Yellow. It's still a WIP but I would like to hear how others think of it so far. I am having trouble with the compression or EQ because the Kicks/Drums are a little too overpowering. Constructive criticism is welcome!

Listen Here: http://tindeck.com/listen/huff (Updated version 1.2)

Thanks, and enjoy! =)

sounds like you're just using really crappy drum samples to begin with- hardstyle kicks that ALREADY have reverb and compression on them shouldn't be used as starting points for a song. i like the idea you have behind it, you just need to work on your production quality. what program are you using to make this?

I had a hard time with the drums but I'll update that file with a newer one that has better sound. I use FL Studio 9 XXL and the day I rendered that version was the day it was giving me problems so I'll upload a newer and hopefully HQ version.

Excellent! I usually prefer orchestral arrangements of the game music, but you've managed to bring in a bunch of different original elements without overpowering the main theme -- a true remix :D. I find your techno style to be highly reminiscent of PokéRemixStudio's work, if you're familiar with him (coincidently he uses FL Studio too).

Thanks a lot for you're nice feedback! Funny enough I am buddies with PRS on Youtube, he helps me if ask questions and he did slightly inspire me on some pieces of mine so yes I am familiar with him! ^_^

I love it! I think it's good but I prefer the original :)

Well a remix can be good but the Originals always still shine through, thanks for listening to it though! ^_^

ah, fl studio is the same program that i use. you need to find some additional packs for drum samples, because the ones that come with it are pretty awful. if you're looking for straight up .wav samples, the vengeance packs are just about the best you could get from everything that i've seen/used, but you would either have to buy them or find a torrent online if that's your thing lol. there are also a few VST synths that come with drum sample presets along with everything else, but those use a lot more cpu memory if you're going to be using them for your kick, snare, hats, etc., and for some reason they never seem to want to go through an eq as easily as sound files do.

just my advice.
