Okay so at one point I briefly made a post in one of the topics, but I don't think anyone saw it, and in hindsight, I probably should have posted it here to begin with. Anyway, that's off topic, without further ado, I have a humble request to make of the PB Administration, and that is a more lenient enforcing of this rule in Pokemon COTDs provided that the COTD in question is a card that is still within the current modified format.
Now I know there is a big stigma against any sort of necromancy, and as someone who's been on a mod squad, I understand the concerns of reviving long dead threads with useless information. However, I think COTD is a little different insomuch that new sets and changes in the metagame can really lead to new discussions on previously listed cards. The viability of cards like Emboar, Zekrom, and Donphan changed with the release of Emerging Powers, and cards like Yanmega skyrocketed in value after nationals, even though the rotation of cards hadn't changed at all. Every TCG player knows the meta changes constantly, and as a result, a COTD topic from a month ago could still have relative data as the meta changes, sort of like a "second look" at the card due to changes in the metagame. I think it would be interesting to see how opinions have changed on certain cards as still more cards are released.
The other reason is a lot simpler, and that's the simple fact that there hasn't been a new COTD in a few months. While this reason is secondary, it is sad to see a really interesting metagame subforum just die due to the lack of a new thread and the regulations regarding "necro posts". Now I think I did read somewhere that posts would resume in time, and I don't doubt, but factoring the evolving metagame, and the fact there is little else to do, would making a few new replies based on new factors of the metagame really hurt all that much? I fully understand locking a thread for a card that isn't even legal because the information doesn't mean jack all, but it would be nice to revisit "legal" cards when a new set comes out, or when the meta abruptly changes.
That's about it really. I do politely ask if anyone replies, to please be cordial. I don't want a simple request to start any arguments.
