• When creating a thread in the Deck Garage, make sure that you post one deck per thread, you use the correct prefix, you have the set name/card number next to each card, you give a strategy for non-metagame decks, and give translations for all cards not available in English.

Regigigas deck! (Unlimited?)

About a year ago one of my friends gave me all her sister's old Pokemon cards she was.. "borrowing" so I could play the TCG with them. I got a Regigigas level X and a hundred or so newer cards + my 4th grade era stash of old cards. So I just bought the Regigigas tin and threw everything together into what I thought was a good deck. It seemed to work, it reliably beats all my friend's decks with no trouble except one with Donphan that it can go about 50/50 against. Some of them are super-into the card game (they have thousands of cards and play in tournaments) so they brought me to a local tournament place. I won every match I played except one against some guy with a Donphan and I think Claydol.

I have no idea about the metagame at all (I didn't even know what Unlimited meant until 10 minutes ago) and I don't have many cards.

Anyhow, the idea of the deck is to just get Regigigas out and start killing. I have to stress how new I am at this game (I don't know what a level X card actually is!) and how few cards I have. lol, I don't even have the right energies for some of my Pokemon! Unown ? is a great thing to search for with Holon Mentor once I have Regigigas and it can play mind games with Regigigas X and Drifblim (who has never once attacked, I just put it in for the free retreat cost!). Drifblim and Drifloom are useless, I need replacements.

The Trainers are pretty much random. Switch helps remove effects besides status like "Bite On" from a Mightyena my friend ALWAYS uses. I think it also lets me use Giga Blaster consecutively, but I'm not sure. Quick Ball is relatively worthless as it only draws one Pokemon and 90% of the time it seems to be Drifloon. Mary's Request is pretty good and so is Holon Mentor. They're pretty much all draw and search cards + 4 Switch.

Call Energy collects some Unown "?" and doubles as a "retreat" energy for my active Pokemon when Regigigas needs to come in. Its not bad, but theres probably something better out there. Multi-Energy is awesome, it all but guarantees I'll have all three colors I need for Gigas.


I'm willing to place 10-20 dollars into this deck I guess. I was told to use this Abomasnow to beat Donphan; which looks good because it can hurt benches and Regigigas is often 20~ damage short from killing stuff. Theres also Expert Belt which makes Gigas even bigger.

This deck does need some draw power.

+ 1 Azelf
Uxie is for drawpower and Azelf is used to search out any prized Regigiga Lv.X

I can't think of anything else.
EDIT: Actually Take out the LA drifblim and add the SF one for searching.
 
Illegal? How so? I thought there weren't any banned cards in Unlimited. I don't even run Psychic energies, so I don't think Uxie / Azelf will really be the best choices.

What about the Abomasnow and Expert Belt? Would those work? Is Amulet Coin usable at all?
 
They have rotated, that'll say that they are out of the format. Each year Pokemon TCG takes away 5-6 series from tournament play, so that the game stays fun.

Uxie / Azelf are only used for their powers. Not their attacks, also, Uxie uses a Colorless energy.
 
Am I the only one who noticed that you are running waaaaaaaay too many energy? And that...the deck doesn't appear to be all that good as a Gigas deck?

You might want to read this article so you have a better grip of what Gigas is truly capable of. Usually, Gigas should be your main attacker, and nobody else. Any asides shouldn't be bigger than a 2-2 line, if that.

Yes, I run Gigas, so I know what I'm talking about.
 
That doesn't mean that it isn't a bad list, though. In fact, the list is predominantly Modified with only a few minor exceptions. Hence why I linked the article as a suggestion for how to improve the deck.

So its a bad deck and its not modified. These are two things I already know. I don't play this game competitively very often and I know there are HUGE flaws in it.

All I want to know is how to make the existing deck more efficient. My Trainer list is an obvious mess, Drifblim is literally useless and I often get flooded by energies late game. Once Regigigas is actually out the rest of my deck is useless as nothing supports it.

Things like Abomasnow, Expert Belt, Azelf / Uxie I've been told are good additions. I was also thinking of dropping one Regigigas X for a Drag Off Regigigas (so 3-1). Regigigas can set up pretty quickly and Drag Off can be bombing stuff with Expert Belt attached on turn two if I get lucky. Theres also Premier Ball which would work to get a single Regigigas X even if its dead (so I'm not instantly screwed by a Machamp).

Also for the last time this is being played in UNLIMITED

**If I run 3-1 Regigigas I can sell my other one and slightly up this decks budget.
 
Bump, so much work.. I need help!!

Should I add Mysterious Fossil? Its free energy and health for gigas and it can evolve into Aero which keeps pokes from evolving!
