I still wonder how the 3rd legendary counterpart is gonna tie in to them. i thought yin and yang was just 2 parts?

They could do a Ho-Oh and Lugia thing, and have it as a duo. Just because it hasn't happened for 2 gens running, they might this time.

Like everyones been saying Reshiram and Zekrom represent Ying/Yang based on the legend of a Japanese city named Hiroshima I believe.

I have a complex theory (and it may not make any sense, but here goes...). First of all, I know that yin and yang represent binary opposites (e.g. day and night, black and white, good and evil, etc), and that they cannot exist without each other. Therefore, I had an idea that maybe they were loosely based on life and death (plus Reshiram and Zekrom both look like angels). Then there is the speculation of N being a time-traveller, and the fact that TP look like they came from the past. Now, I am not a religious person, but, as life and death are opposites, and in the world of the living, our lives advance as we move into the future, I suppose it would make sense if the world of the deceased worked in the opposite manner (i.e. their "lives" advance towards the past, i dunno :S). This random theory could then explain/prove 2 things: the reason there is a beginning and an end to our lives, and that the past and the future (TP and N reference here) are also binary opposites, therefore fitting in with the yin-yang theme of black and white. I'm probably a long way off the truth, though :S. It is just a theory, after all! ;)

That kind of gave me an idea. Maybe Reshiram represents the past, Zekrom the future, and whatever the third pokemon will be can represent the present. I don't really know how it could represent the present, though. Maybe a cross between Reshiram and Zekrom. {R}/{L} typing?

They represent what they represent we will find out in due time so we just need to be patient but I think they just represent ying and yang/black and white/good and evil/blah blah blah!

We already know where they're based on.

In the terminology of yin and yang, a Chinese dragon represents yang, which has masculine features. And a Fenghuang represents yin and has feminine features.

This all makes sense since Zekrom might look like a Chinese dragon somewhat, at least its head a little bit. And Reshiram looks a lot like a Fenghuang, which is a mythical bird-like creature.

There's only one problem. Zekrom is classified as the Black Yin Pokemon while Reshiram is the White Yang Pokemon. If yin and yang where swapped in their classifications it would make complete sense, although now it doesn't much anymore..

Unless they're switched on purpose..

So maybe team plasma created Zekrom, mewtoo style except it's an original and Reshiram was born from natures Powers like wethers or whatever and the 3rd one could be created naturally and it's sort of mechanical and natural looking but mainly mechanical.

I think they represent balance of this universe or something. Its Yin Yang, what more could you think of?

who told you that, lol?
yin/yang is a symbol from a really old chinese religion called taoism.
hiroshima was the city that America used an atom bomb at the end of ww2, lol

I'm sorry, but I don't understand why they have to represent more than Yin and Yang.

Ho-Oh/Lugia: Guardian of Skies/Seas
Groudon/Kyogre: Land/Water
Dialga/Palkia: Space/Time
Reshiram/Zekrom: Yin/Yang

I don't see why Yin/Yang isn't enough for what they represent.

Nature and Technology, it seems - more specifically the balance between the two. The Black and White colouration then fits into the chess theme that Plasma seem to have.

I have to say i'm liking the multiple layers of depth bought to this game, just from the use of a Black and White motif. Japan does this stuff well.

hate to burst your bubbles but while yes the creators did want the whole yin yang thing to be picked up on the actually represent truth and idealsi dont know what the third kyurem is though

@Zekrom hero

They are based on yin and yang. Kyurem is based on wuji, which is the absence of yin and yang.

The whole truth and ideals thing was storyline motivation.

While this may have passed for a good thread revive, this topic is a little outdated. In addition, a general Reshiram/Zekrom/Kyurem thread will probably be made soon.
