Ruling Retreating?

How many times can an active pokemon retreat per turn? and does switch/warp point/ect count as retreating.

Also is there a difference between retreating and to switch out?

You can only retreat once per turn. Retreating involves paying the Energy cost to retreat and THEN swapping your Active Pokemon out for one of your Benched Pokemon. However, Switch, Warp Point and other cards that have the word "switch" on them count as switching, not retreating. Switching is simply swapping your Active out for a Benched without paying the Retreat Cost. You can't switch unless a card tells you to.

Just wanted to clarify, even if your pokemon has a free retreat, it still counts as your one normal retreat per turn. I'ts a fairly common mistake, so I just thought I'd point that out.

Huh. I didn't know that. Damn it, it seems that every week I learn that the way I was playing before was wrong or something. >.>

So using a retreat then using warp point is ok?

Yes, a Warp Point is not considered your one retreat per turn.

you can only retreat once per turn and to retreat you have to attach however many energies are shown on the bottom right of the card to the pokemon, once you have retreated, put the energies in your discard pile. and yes, you have to do that process in order to switch out pokemon...
That is incorrect. Please refrain from answering unless you are completely sure of the answer and are backed with some textual support. You have been warned.

Um... no. This isn't correct. You can't attach energy all at once to that Pokemon to retreat. You simply discard that much energy from that Pokemon if you have enough attached. And you don't have to discard energy to use a switch effect such as Palkia G's Splashing Turn, Warp Point, or Switch.
