Flygon999: I got the starting town just about done. I am customizing the houses. Is there a color scheme you would think might fit better?

How about this you get Cresselia during the game but Darkrai post game like he runs away or something. Like at Fullmoon Island you battle throught Team Rocket catching Cressealia or just knocking it out, after your seventh gym badge. Later after you beat the game you could put in Team Galactic as well or you can use Team Rocket again. You have to go to Canalave City after a tip that something strange was going on by the League Champion. When you arrive you find that all the Boats have left and can't come back yet Team _____ is on an Island far away. So you have to get a pokemon that knows surf and swim after them. When you get there you have to battle through some grunts then you find either *Givoanni and _____ /Cyrus and Saturn.* Then you have to face them in a double battle you controlling both of your pokemon. They each have 3 semi high leveled pokemon around 60-67. They each have 3 so they have a total of 6. If you lose you go bak to the pokemon center in Canalave. Then you head back... If you win then they will flee and a pokemon willrise from the ground being darkrai! Then Darkrai will attack you around lv 70 when since you're right out of the pokemon league your pokemon will only be about 60 something. So if you beat/catch it then it stops and the Leauge Champion walks in and Congragulates you. If you lose then it will be like Mesprit walking around everywhere. Yet it won't flee when you find it. It will fight and still be at lv 70. Except it heals itself every time you find it unlike the others.

charidude: Accepted, but I don't really like it. I don't think that fullmoon island will be in the game, there will be a new way of how we find cresselia. Darkrai should not be in the game at all. For example, Palkia isn't in Diamond and Dialga isn't in Pearl. Darkrai isn't in Amethyst and Cresselia isn't in future-game-with-Darkrai.

I haven't seen a game on this forum for a while... But so far, you've just got ideas. I guess it's a bit early, but if you can get some screenshots or examples of maps up, it would make the thread look better (as well as giving people a reason to contribute).

Anyway, I'll try to give you some tips on what you've got so far. I see you're basing the story on Cresselia. However, using Cresselia's power to create a new universe is a bit of a stretch; Cresselia's power is nowhere near that of Dialga's or Palkia's, and besides, it's the legendary of dreams.
Second, what are Team Galactic doing in your new region? They were based in Sinnoh, and broke up after the events of D/P/Pt... I guess that's similar to G/S/C, but Team Rocket were just generic bad guys, while Galactic was focused on using Dialga/Palkia's power (hence the name). I would make a brand new evil team, and change their goal to fit Cresselia's power.
A similar thing applies for Cresselia itself. It's native to Sinnoh; what's it doing in your region? You could use this as a story element; perhaps start the story in Sinnoh, and have something happen to Cresselia causing the player to follow it to the new region. It would be interesting if traveling between the two regions was worked into the plot; perhaps after a certain amount of time in the new region, an event occurs that sends you back to Sinnoh?
About sprites. Are you going to use the D/P/Pt sprites for everything, other than the custom trainers? How about tiles? The original D/P/Pt tiles don't look so good in 2D (if you're using RMXP, you won't be able to make a 3D game)... There are plenty of tilesets around; if you're going to include Sinnoh, I suggest you find Kyledove's custom D/P tileset. As a warning, that tileset is one of the most popular; unless you make some custom tiles too, people may whine at you for being 'unoriginal'.
Charizard88 is in charge of making the actual game in RPG Maker, right? Has he ever used it before, and if so, is he experienced with it? Trust me, you don't want a sub-par game. Also, since you have multiple mappers, each one will require a copy of RPG Maker, as well as be able to work together in terms of map style and contents. After all, you don't want a horribly put-together region, do you?
Finally, you'll want to learn scripting. Although there aren't many other games here, if you decide to expand to another forum, then you'll want the game to stand out. Unless you get a decent scripter, this is quite tough. With a scripter, you can create new features for your game, such as custom menus and minigames. Those are generally the things which make a game different from others; if your game hasn't got any custom features, most people won't be very interested.

EDIT: Why shouldn't Darkrai be in the game? Are you seriously already planning a future game already? The reason Dialga/Palkia aren't in the opposite versions is because Diamond is a counterpart to Pearl, not a sequel. Note how both of them play a role in Platinum. If counterparts are what you mean, what's the point? Nintendo only makes two versions to make more money; some people will buy both to get all the Pokémon. You're not trying to make money, so you may as well save time by just making one version. At least you could have Darkrai appear in the story, but be unobtainable (like Dialga/Palkia in Platinum, before the National Dex). That way, when you do make a sequel, it can tie in directly with events in this game.

As a side note, the name 'Pokémon Amethyst' appears to be popular >_>

Seriously, that is one big post. I just finished reading it and it sounds to me that I have to make the game more custom, and not based on D/P/PT, am I right? That's where I'm getting at, but if all fails I use other sprites. But if I can get some good spriters it will hopefully be custom. The game will probably not be 3D, but 2D like the GBA versions. The sprites will be similar to the D/P/PT games. I'm not trying to make money, lol, I'm probably not going to make a game based on Darkrai either. It's just that, I want the game to be focused on one legendary and not two, thus, Cresselia will be on the cover. I will get screenshots soon one the first map is made, I have RPG Maker VX but am still figuring out how to add tilesets and doors and so forth. As for the regions, having two would be a bit confusing, no? I don't think it matters that much, but if it does I will just leave it as Sinnoh. But if I did that, the maps and all would have to be from the D/P/PT games, and that is not custom. I will make a new region and new maps, but using DP pokemon.

EDIT:: About using the name, nobody has officially released a game of this yet so I don't really care if somebody else is working on the same project.

I think this idea could be cool. Team Galactic's new leader wants to capture Cress so he can put everyone to sleep and rule over{Insert Region Name Here}.(And that can be the same with the Darkrai game.)And to add even more of a twist, how about your rival is workin for team Galatic, but you didn't know. Like insted of you moving to the region, how he/she does, working for team Galatic. This shouldn't told until you come to stop Team Galatic. That is just a jumble of thoughts.

That's not a bad idea about Rival, but that would be a completely different plot. It seems a bit cool actually, but that would be too confusing because he's/she's supposed to be your friend who wants to beat you in battles and be a champion just like you.

42 chocolate: Yes, credits will be given. Before the game starts, a slide will pop up with credits. Everyone who helped out will be included, and what they did.

^ chestnut sounds a bit too goofy lol.

BTW guys, update your avys please ^_^ I fixed it with bolder text and the black to the right side of "Nintendo DS Wi-Fi".

Yeah, the more custom content you have, the better. If I wanted to play a game exactly like the GBA/DS games, I'd get out my GBA/DS. There's nothing wrong with using D/P Pokémon sprites, as it would take forever to resprite every single Pokémon.
I would still use Darkrai somewhere in the game... It's too related to Cresselia not to do so. You could always use it like Dialga/Palkia in Platinum, having it involved in the story, but not catchable until after you complete the game...
I wouldn't recommend using RPG Maker VX. RPG Maker XP has a more versatile mapping system. But more importantly, if you use VX, you'll have to script many of the systems for your game from scratch. In contrast, a Pokémon starter kit has been developed for XP, which contains most of the features from the GBA games, such as a menu system, a storage system, and a battle system.
G/S managed to pull off two regions well; I would think a lot of people would want it to be possible to go back to an official region, anyway. The maps don't have to be exactly the same; I guess that you will probably have your own mapping style, so it would be interesting to remap Sinnoh in your style. FR/LG are set in Kanto, like R/B; however, the maps are different... Maybe you could shake up the route layouts a bit?

It doesn't matter if two projects have the same name; after all, nobody's trademarked it (if they did, they might get sued by Nintendo, anyway)... But you realise that if your game has the same name as another, then you'll have to make it somehow stand out over the other, or risk being overshadowed.
