Writing Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Congratulations, The Fallen One!)

Currently I've gotten just as many votes as entries. However, there's a tie between two at the moment, and I honestly don't want to be the one who has to make the decision if I don't have to since it may seem biased.
Just the fact that there's a tie makes it pretty hard to confidently say that we have a clear outcome. We had a good turnout of entries, but only one can win.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday at 11:59PM C.S.T)

I mainly mentioned it to try and coax a few more people into voting (which I thought would be pretty obvious)... :/ If comes down to it, I will cast the deciding vote. However, I'd rather not if it can be helped since I don't want people accusing me of making a biased decision.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday at 11:59PM C.S.T)

Or you could just keep the voting period open until the tie is broken so you won't make a conscious decision (as you're the only one that knows which two are tied).

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday at 11:59PM C.S.T)

Fair enough. That's only problem with this contest was that it was bound to come down to a tie since I started getting votes for the same few right away.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday at 11:59PM C.S.T)

That just means two of them stood out. That's all.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Actually, I had a second thought. I'm going to keep the deadline at Wednesday, but if I get a tie-breaking vote beforehand I'll end voting then and there. We can't draw this out too long, otherwise we'll never get to the next round. I may extend the deadline longer so people can get more votes in if they wish, but no longer than Friday or Saturday. Does that sound reasonable, or is it unfair? I know some people have taken (and still will take) time out of their days to read the entries, but to be fair to those who have voted thus far, I have hold to some sort of "cut-off" time for each round.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Isn't that like setting the deadline to today and then extending it until the vote is broken? If there's no tie by Wednesday, then all's well. If there's still one, the voting is either extended, or you break it yourself.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Pretty much. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much of a turnout for voting period, and the fact I started getting votes almost immediately changed that. At this point, I'm a little unsure if I will get a tie-breaking vote that isn't my own and might end up with a three-way if voting goes too long. Again, I'm just modifying thing as necessary, but if you think it'd just be better one way than the other, that's all you need to say.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

The voting period has been set to end at Wednesday and I don't set why we should expediently make it close earlier. If there is a tie, you can just break it yourself (though we'd have possible bias accusations since you know who wrote what), or we wait for it to break itself. If we get to Firday or Saturday and the tie isn't broken at that point, then we figure out what to do then.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Flip a coin! Or do a barrel roll

Hopefully we do get the tie broken though before voting ends. Maybe give it a day or two afterwards if we dont get the tie broken, but no later than like Saturday.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Actually, I have a proposal: if the tie is not broken on Wednesday, do a revote between the writers this time and see which one they'd like to continue their story off of. Votes are pm'd to you, and we should get 7 votes sent to you in a timely fashion, so a two-way tie is broken easily.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Yeah, I think we'll do that. I'd also like to oblige writers who didn't vote yet to do so soon. Again, it isn't required, but would be appreciated. I've gotten a few more votes in today but nothing decisive yet, hence why I've been a little apprehensive.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

I stand self-corrected: the tiebreaker would involve five votes, not seven, as the two people who wrote the tied entries wouldn't be voting. Also, if Apollo has one of the tied entries, then we'll have six votes instead. I'd like to do the tiebreak anyway.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Minor update: The tie has been broken, but I'll still accept any new votes until midnight as promised. Tomorrow I'll be revealing the winner and the identities of each writer by position as well as the places everyone came in.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Apollo, what time are you planning on making the reveal?

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Lolninja.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Possibly around 9:00AM Central since I don't have work tomorrow. It depends when I get online in the morning and how many (if any) new votes I have to tally.

How bout' later in the day when I get a chance to get on? :p

Nah, no special accommodations for me. Can't wait to see who entered what and how we all placed :)

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

Morning is usually the best time for me when I'm off to do my Internet activities, but I may hold off until around noon if it isn't a problem. Central Time can be an awkward schedule to figure the timing of things in if you don't actually live in the Midwest.

RE: Round-Robin Writing Contest I (Votes taken via PM to me until Wednesday or a decisive winner is picked)

12PM central is 1 or 2 PM EST? lol I'm so bad with time.

Whatever time is good for you Apollo, go ahead.
