Royal Wedding

I watched some of it on CNN at school. Someone told me that they spent 80millions pounds on the wedding and out of that 80; 20mil or security.

All in all I thought it was good.

One word

WOW

Yeah, this was one epic event. I like the british soldier people's hats that are really tall and fluffy.

In other news,

2,000th POST :p

I've been here for a little (1 day) less than 7 months, and have 2000 posts. :D

Yeah I am with you on the hats.

The royal family have no power over anything in England. All they do is steal the tax payers money xD. It was a good wedding, went to a street party. But the money they spent on the wedding and the money lost from having a bank holiday hasn't done the economy much help. But I dont really care about the economy, I got a day of school and I'm a happy bunny :)

Isn't the reason we seperated from England because we didn't want Kings or Queens? I mean I know they're not like they used to be, but you still have to treat them like royalty. I mean who cares. They're just rich idiots. Who really cares if they get married? Is it helping the economics? No. Is it helping us? No. They're making a big fuss over something that barely matters.

Is there any difference between people fascinated with royalty and people fascinated with celebrities?

Well we don't have to bow or curtsey when we see celebrities. I feel the same way about most though. Only a few will use that money for good.

Actually, the royal family do still hold a great deal of power in Britain, they just choose not to use it. If the Queen decided to, she could dissolve the Government and create a whole new one.

The Royal family is a great source of tourism and they generate more money then they spend, and the Royal Wedding brought in even more tourism then usual.

They are royalty >.> and there a great morale booster for the world in the current economic climate, and it also shows publicly that there's still love in the world.

Millions upon millions of people care. and they're not rich idiots infact they have a degree of education that not many people in the world would even come close to, including in America, they also do a lot of charity work so they're helping people across the world. The only royal I'd even come close to calling an idiot is Prince Charles. On helping America's economy: well it did create a lot of news and merchandise, so I imagine it helped even if only in a small way.

Clearly it does matter. Will and Kate are going to be the King and Queen someday and when they are they'll usher in a new age of royalty who have a much closer connection with their people

I'd like to see them have a much better connection with their people. By idiots, I meant more as in the sense of stuck up. Also, I think we ALL know there is still love in the world even without this wedding. They treat most people like crud there anyway, and all of them are stuck up. The Queen is, the "princess" is, the "prince" is, and whatever else is part of their family.

^ They're actually quite far from being stuck up. Both William and Harry belong to the RAF and obviously are contributing to society a great deal.

@ Trainer of Shadow, fine they have the power to do said tings but they won't because it doesn't really matter to them. The only time they would intervene is if the government try to pass a ridiculous law.

They also could have had the wedding in the evening so everyone could have watched and we didn't sacrifice a day of business.

Of course to you it's important. You're from England. PDC, I, and the like are American. What would it matter to us?

^ Thats a void argument then. Thats like saying I just bought a PS3, It matters to me because its mine, it doesn't matter to you though.

Uh, why should anyone care? Prince William isn't next in line to be King; Prince Charles is. For all we know, Queen Elizabeth could live/reign for another ten years. Maybe Prince Charles will serve as long as she did. As far as I can see, we won't see William as king in a long time.

Other than that, I really don't care about the wedding. Kate looked beautiful and the wedding looked big. That's all I can say.

While I agree with the Americans that believe it's pointless, as security came out of taxpayers' money, they are not stuck-up.

Was she stuck up before she was married? They don't treat people as crud, and heck I'd know. Some minor royalty came to our school and donated to our funds to go to homeless children and the children in the Congo who there are.

It'll also possibly matter to you in that possibly, in 60 years, the ruling King could be him, and then he would have to co operate with the USA and it's president... Assuming that's the state if affairs then.

Also, she isn't a Princess. She's a Duchess. Of Cambridge.

So, by all of your judgements, I presume you've all met the Royal Family then.

I can't jump to any conclusions, as I've not met them, but The Royal Family don't seem to do that much. But in all fairness, they are very iconic, and without them, our tourist count would deplete like... loads. I liked the wedding. It was huge and everyone seemed really happy, which is all that mattered really.

It doesn't matter to me. I don't see your point As an American, I see no use spending money to see/buy/waste time with the royal family, something that won't affect me at all.

How are they stuck up? Do you know anybody in the royal family on a personal basis? no. Do you even know anybody in the royal family at all? no. So how can you say they are stuck up when clearly you have no idea who the people you're talking about are.

Also, the fact that you say they treat most people like crud is completely false. The royal family has done plenty of charity work, more than most celebrities in our area. William's brother served in the army. He slept in a tent for a month, and spent a night seeing what it was like to be homeless by sleeping on the street. How is this treating people like crud, and being stuck up? It's not.
