rules

Can you elaborate more on the subject so we can possibly have a good discussion?

I believe he's talking about the bit where they allowed the playing of Trainers on the first turn, and the Rare Candy/Great Ball/PlusPower errata.

Even so, I agree...that isn't "completely" changing the rules. Certain eras have allowed playing Trainers on T1.

im still a little confused on the rare candy rule. is it a change on the card or will it just be a rule that you cant use it T1...or is that even the rule. the trainer rule will rock the metas world. it will up donks biiiiig time. pokemon communication, poke balls, poke turn blah blah blah will mean that it will be even easier to set up...combined with BTS...oh god lol. it will be T1 stage 2's and the defending will have 50 on it because of crobat and poke turn

^It's a change to the actual card text of Rare Candy. As to playing BTS turn 1? I don't remember if it said that we could play Supporters or Stadiums on the first turn.

It's going to be a hilarious 4 months when B/W comes out, that's for sure.

i thought that was a change too...that youc ould play stadiums and supporters also. its gonna change alot...kind of its just going to make SP even fast than it already is -.-

I know that for trainer lock, it's only trainers, but for this, I think it's everything. Trainer lock, I could understand just trainers, (it would be broken otherwise), but for this, it wouldn't make sense for only trainers.

I bet both Dark/Ghost types are going to raise in price, along with Broken Time-Space. Sableye for donks, Spiritomb to prevent them.

EDIT: Ninja'd… -_-

See, I don't get why they're allowing T/S/S T1 now. Wasn't it more fair before? Doesn't it make sense that the person who doesn't get to use T/S/S first at least gets to draw a card, attach an energy, use PokéPowers, attack, and ultimately evolve first T2 (excluding BTS)? Now what this does is effectively take away the first turn entirely, which was at least something good for not going second. But going second after the rule change will be even more of a disadvantage than going first is now.

well once rotation happens it should all even out. remember japan is HGSS-on so it doesnt matter and you WANT to go first there. but ya...other than that it makes no sense

Ummm.

Methinks the following:
The reason they are changing the rules on playing trainers/supporters T1 is to cut down on donks. So why would these rule changes be implemented here MID-SEASON with a slew of donk decks that would benefit immensely from this change??

These rule changes, IF they go into effect here, most likely won't be put in place until AFTER rotation. The only rule change we might get is that regarding Pokemon Abilities which will be introduced in the first B/W set.

And when these rules do go into effect, it will mean more than likely that SP's will be effectively wiped from the format.

^....they already said that they were going into effect when BW comes out...so no not after rotation like end of march beginning of april

im pretty sure they said that in japan

tcpi doesnt always follow what japan does

sure we are going to get the rule change at some point
but tcpi has said nothing about that happening with black and white

sure its possible they could, but i find it way more likely that they wait till the next season starts

^Exactly. The rule change was announced in Japan, along with a new format (which was HGSS-on; hence why the rules went into effect immediately over there).

Like I said, I highly doubt that they would implement these rules (which are clearly supposed to cut down on donks) during this season. It would be counter intuitive.

^ i thought once we got BW in march we would have those rules...since everything in BW references goods and abilities and all that...

I think only some new things will be implemented (like Abilities being mentioned). Goods is only in Japan as well. They changed over from Trainers back when HG/SS came out, but the US never changed that. The change of the Balls, Rare Candy, and the Trainers T1 might go into effect after Rotation.

dmaster out.

@Dmaster - I'm pretty sure the balls and Candy rules would go into effect immediately since thats nothing to do with rulings as per being a brand new wording of the card. Such as when Sp. Metals can now only decrease damage when attached to a metal pokemon, where as originally it was on any pokemon you got the bonus. So unless they decide not to release Candy/Balls/Potion (since potion will heal 30 over 20 now), we'll get those changes for sure.

^There's something I hadn't thought of. However, it IS possible that they hold back the cards which received a rule/text change and release them in the next set (which, oh how appropriate, is released in August just in time for rotation).
