Ruling Ruling on the "Great" Pokemon Coming out in Heart Gold/Soul Silver

I'm just wondering if the 'Great' in there name will affect the evolution process if

A. it will be treated as the ex ruling where it's a 'Great' Pokemon, but is still considered the same stage that the normal version of that pokemon is

or

B. Like the LV.X ruling where it is placed atop the normal stage, but does not count as an evolution.

As far as is known, Great Pokemon/Pokemon Prime don't have any special rulings associated with them; they're just more powerful and have a special foil design/picture.

I do not know if A will be the case (most likely it will not), but B is definitely incorrect. You can also read the HGSS set FAQ on the main site.

Prime Pokemon, to confirm, are just like normal evolution cards. The FAQ had no "special rulings" on Prime Pokemon, so that means that Prime Pokemon are again, normal evolution cards.

the announcement for rotation happens every year right around the time for Worlds

what will rotate, or if anything will rotate at all, is currently unknown...but current speculation is that the format will be PT-on

as for the change causing a major shift, I honestly don't believe it will, as differences in mechanics between different sets have been played in modified before...like with the transition from the EX mechanic to the Lv. X mechanic when DP first came out

Question asked, question answered. Prime Pokemon, as far as we know, can Level Up into Pokemon Lv.X since they don't have Prime in their name.

EDIT: There was nothing in the FAQ that said you couldn't Level Up a Prime Pokemon into a Pokemon Lv.X.

In other words, Prime Pokémon just have that title, but are no different from any other Pokémon, so the rules are the same.

Now please, don't post anymore you have new rulings regarding Prime Pokémon.
