XY Sableye is being featured on the movie site -- Evolution imminent?

Sableye is getting special attention on the movie site - its own box and description (click on the Sableye in the box).

Does anyone want to translate the description? Not like I except it to reaveal anything.

Anyway, I somewhat believe in an evolution now.

I went over that in another thread somewhere. All it says is that it lives in Pokémon Hills (like all the other Pokémon on the right) and that it befriends Ash and company. It could be there to showcase a new evolution, or they might have just figured it was time it got a little spotlight. I'd say it's more likely to get a new evolution than if it wasn't featured like that, but only slightly - there's really nothing else pointing to it.

RE: Sableye

Either two possibilities for this one!

One, it's actually important to the movie's plot kind of like Plusle and Minun were for the Deoxys movie.

Two, it'll evolve in the new few seasons of the anime once it joins up with Ash or something and showcase a Gen 6 evolution.

Personally I think both are equally likely.

RE: Sableye

I don't see why Sableye would be prominently featured in this movie if it's not getting an evo, it hasn't been remotely popular or relevant since 3rd gen.

RE: Sableye

Charizard is in the poster as well! Perhaps he gets a new forme, because Ash owns a Charizard. And you know GameFreak likes to add hidden secrets to posters like this. I think there is a good chance of this happening!

RE: Sableye

No! Those two spaces below Mewtwo are real! Not another Mewtwo form. We already have one.
Also, Sableye getting an evolution would be cool.

RE: Sableye

I've always loved Sableye, so I'd love for it to get an evolution. It has so much potential design-wise for an evo and it's in desperate need of stat boosts. Mawile should get an evolution too, but maybe with more of a focus on it's origin of a futakuchi-onna.

RE: Sableye

Yes, I believe so. And its counterpart Mawile should get an evolution in PokémonXY too

RE: Sableye

let's see:
First movie: Contained a gen II Pokemon
Movie 2000:Contained 3 gen II Pokemon
Spell of the Unown: Contained None
Voice of the forest: Contained 3 Gen III Pokemon
Pokemon heroes: Contained 3 Gen III Pokemon
Pokemon Jirachi Wish maker: Contained None
Pokemon deyoxes: Contained 1 gen IV Pokemon
Pokemon Lucario : Contained 4 gen IV Pokemon
Pokemon Sea temple: Contained 3 gen IV Pokemon
Rise of darkrai: Contained none
Sky arrow: Contained none
Arceus: Contained none
Master of illusion: Contained 2 gen V Pokemon
(These dont include legendaries)
And then they stopped until now..
most of these Pokemon appeared in the poster of the movie
so there is a BIG chance of Sableye evolving..

Y'all best be facetious there.
Anyway, part of me wants to think it's just a there-for-the-plot Pokemon, but that doesn't make a whole lot of sense since it hasn't been current since, like... 2005. This and its prominence suggests an evolution, but I'm not sure how they'd pull that off in a movie setting, since the movie (as far as we can tell) is not about the Sableye.
Munchlax's tacked-on evolution at the end of Destiny Deoxys worked because it went from new to old, but this would be old to new, and it would feel weird just having it happen out of focus? Idk.

Eh, it could be a subplot, and as long as it was handled well, it would only make the movie better.

I'm really curious because of the fact that, aside from having its own box, Sableye is a very different kind of Pokémon than all the others featured on that page and in the trailer. They're mostly plains- or forest-dwelling Pokémon, whereas Sableye up to now has been presented as pretty much exclusively a cave-dweller. The page says that Pokémon Hills has a lot of different "stages" to accomodate a lot of different types of Pokémon, so that might not be too strange, but it's something to think about.

I say it could possibly be a hint for an evolution, as Pokemon only has 2 Ghost/Dark types, the perfect type with absolutely NO weaknesses, them being Sableye and Spiritomb. It could be possible we could be getting another one, in the form of a Sableye evolution. Hopefully it would be a good pokemon for competitive play, with good stats and ability.

Sableye's good in UU and VGC. It doesn't need an evo, I guarantee you that it'd be too broken.

Ya lol

Even when I use it in OU, every other person has to tell me how much they hate it.

With an emphasis on a 3rd gen Pokemon I'm surprised no-one has said it yet. Maybe it's to hint at one of those Pikachu shorts things that I'm not sure we even get anymore. I doubt it would be an evolution since this is the first we've heard of Sableye in forever.

Don't forget Graveler! GF hinted that he may be able to evolve with link cables but it hasn't been confirmed!

To the contrary, that's exactly what makes a Sableye evolution likely. It's a forgotten Pokemon from 3rd gen, as Mitja pointed out, everyone hates it, and now all of the sudden it's getting a major role in a movie? Seems like too much of a coincidence to me, and I can't imagine why else they'd decide to bring it back into focus if it wasn't getting a new evolution.

Well we don't know Sableye has a major role in anything yet (do we?) only that is has a role in something. I wouldn't consider it any more questionable than a powerful TCG card of a relatively unknown Pokemon being released in the next set. Forgive the incredibly uninformed TCG metaphor.
There could also be a Pikachu Short as I mentioned with a weird Pokemon. I mean who really wanted Volbeat in Camp Pikachu?
On the other hand with the latest two reveals having a relation to something pre-existing and GF trying to breath life into a hated Pokemon would make some kind of sense. Then again there are other Pokemon the fanbase hate that has room for an evolution; so why Sableye specifically?

I actually really like Sableye :[

excuse me? did I hear that right? there are some, no, ALL who hate an adorable jewel-eyed gremlin? Not everything has to be powerful or evolve into an OU monstrosity for it to be likable ._. I wouldn't mind a Sableye evolution but dang I cannot imagine hating it.
