XY Sableye is being featured on the movie site -- Evolution imminent?

sableye evolution=r/s/e remakes confirmed *shot*

In all seriousness, it does seem very plausible that Sableye could receive an evolution; like others have pointed out, it's never been prominently featured, and now would be (arguably) the best time to reveal a Sableye evolution, what with the new Gen being confirmed to have old evolutions. It's design is also quite small; it could be expanded upon with relative ease. Its BST is also fairly lackluster, and an Evolution could help that.
My ideas on how its stats could be increased is:
HP-50 -> 70
Atk-75 -> 100
Def-75 -> 100
Sp.A-65 ->80
Sp.D-65 -> 80
Spe-50 -> 70
Total: 380 -> 500

I don't really know how good this Pokemon would be competetive-wise, but something tells me the low speed would be a turn off, as well as the lackluster sp.d.
(of course, Mawile would get stat changes similar to these, with emphasis on the stat's she's good at)

Although Sableye admittedly has its fanboys out there, let's face the truth:
It's neither strong, nor cute, nor excessively popular among fans. Heck, it's one of those Pokemon that many people easily overlook and its only notable feature is the achievement of being the first Pokemon without any weakness.

Brief, it's not a Pokemon that could serve as crowd-pleaser (like Mewtwo or Charizard do in this particular movie).

What makes me wonder is its own introduction on the Japanese movie page. Why don't place it with all the other filler Pokemon like Graveler, Persian or Chansey?

It just seems so random to me to fish just Sableye out of oblivion, maybe suspicious random, considering that movies were often used to showcase new Pokemon of the upcoming generation. And I think a Sableye evo could indeed be a neat thing.

excuse me? did I hear that right? there are some, no, ALL who hate an adorable jewel-eyed gremlin? Not everything has to be powerful or evolve into an OU monstrosity for it to be likable ._. I wouldn't mind a Sableye evolution but dang I cannot imagine hating it.

No you heard it wrong.
Its look was not even in the discussion. (altho bolts post makes it sound like "people hate sableye")
I merely pointed out that "it should evolve because it is weak" is not an argument because it is highly annoying to face in competitive battling NOW already.
Which is irrelevant anyway as past evolutions prove.

Which brings us to the conclusion that, because YOU as a person do not like Sableye, you don't see why it should get an evolution, and therefore, don't believe that it will.
I always get annoyed when I read your posts.
You are always so damn negative.

Charizard is in the poster as well! Perhaps he gets a new forme, because Ash owns a Charizard. And you know GameFreak likes to add hidden secrets to posters like this. I think there is a good chance of this happening!

Maybe Ash himself will get a new forme. I would like that.

Not cute? Not popular? In my experience Sableye is widely beloved, and you guys are also only speaking from the perspective of the English-speaking fandom. Sableye shows up fairly often in Japanese promotional stuff.

A Sableye evolution wouldn't even be as surprising as a Gligar evolution was.

And everyone I know thinks it's one of the most adorably precious designs in the series. It's a little baby-size, big-headed goblin with freaky giant eyes and jagged teeth, that's as cute as a dark type can even get.

What Mitja meant about people "hating" it is that in the metagame, it's an absolute demon with its hidden ability, Prankster. An evolution wouldn't necessarily still have that; Murkrow gets it, but Honchkrow doesn't. Gamefreak seems to know that it'd be a totally broken ability on stronger pokemon. We don't even know if hidden abilities will be kept for XY.

And heck, it could actually even just be getting a prevo. After all, they gave one to Chimecho, of all things.

Sableye has one of the coolest designs ever. Have you ever seen him spaz around in Colosseum, etc? Man he's neat.

I kinda hope nothing happens to him. I don't want him to evolve (since Eviolite Sableye would be the absolute king of dickery), but I don't want him to get a prevo either (since babies are the scum of the earth in nearly all cases).

I just hope they're just trolling.

What the heck are you talking about?

I love Sableye -.-
I'm like the only one to use it on my silly OU team on showdown (which I even already mentioned).

And I think Sableye will evolve.
In fact I've been waiting for that since gen III.

I probably get just as annoyed by people assuming things like this you know?
I mean where did you get from that I dislike Sableye? Or that I think it shouldn't evolve? Where did I write anything of that sort??
I merely agreed that an argument was weak. That has nothing to do with what me or someone else thinks, likes, wants.

-.-

Let me simplifiy this conversation:
--ChaosRipper: "sableye should evolve because its not good"
----Blui: "but sableye is good" (pointing out the weak argument)
------me: "yes, its hard to beat" (confirming it is weak)
--------Bolt: "people hate sableye" (misleading quote)
----------Frzegle: "people hate sableye?" (misunderstanding)
------------me: "I didn't say that" (trying to fix misunderstanding)
--------------you: "just because you hate sableye doesnt mean it wont evolve, you're annoying."

Sorry. I made a mistake.

And this is why the Sableye I currently have on Black is going to X/Y, I'm at least a lil better prepared this time around unlike in Gen V which I never had the time to start on the G/S remakes. :/

Sableye (someone dressed as one) was just featured on pokemon smash o__O

At the part where 3 people cosplaying the anime leads walk around random places lol

EDIT:
and its gonna be featured in the same segment next time..

EDIT2:
Let me join the stat speculation ;P

Sableye/Mawile have 380 total stats, so evolving would result in something from 490 to 520.

I mention Mawile, because they are quite related, with the biggest connection being version exclusives.
I know so were Skarmory and Mantine, yet we havent seen "Skarmtyke"...but these two creepy little critters even share their locations.
Which makes me believe that both would get an evolution in this case...
of course they could also pull a "Scizor", where one evolves, but an even more similar bro is introduced for the one thats left behind. though Pinsir was already a 500 total base stat pokemon...

But anyhow, I think Mawile has even more potential for what it could evolve into than Sableye

the stat increases would be either a +20x6, or something like +10x3, +30x3, focusing on the already better stats (both of which end up in a nice 500 total)
50 85 85 55 55 50 380
50 75 75 65 65 50 380
Seeing how Sableye is much more hybrid (more average stats across board), and Mawile focused on the physical side making its special side weak, Sableye could very well get the easy +20 across the board treatment.
70 95 95 85 85 70 500
while Mawiles special side would stay lacking with crappy +10 but its physical side turned noteworthy via +30.
70 115 115 65 65 70 500
that is, if the designs and inspirations stay somewhat consistent with their initial stages, as of course they could very well change radically into unexpected things.
Perhaps to make them even more distinct, Id also make one of them gain less speed but more HP.

Sableye was also featured on Pokemon Smash a few years ago, too, I think before Black and White came out actually, but yeah suddenly there's an awful lot of Sableye around.
