Even if it does end, it won't be for a LONG time. Pokemon's been going for over 10 years. It could easily do another 20 at least.

It'll eventually end, everything does. But I don't see anything on the horizon that will make it happen anytime soon. We're months away from the fifth gen release in japan, with us getting it in probably February or March of next year, along with possibly the third edition (ie like Platinum) two years after. Plus if/when we get remakes of Ruby/Sapphire.

We can expect new card sets to go with it, and if it's like most of them it'll be every new Pokemon at least once plus at least one new version of the previous 493, possibly including alternate forms, very possibly stuff from the new generation of bad guys and even gym stuff.

That's four to five years of Pokemon stuff right there, ignoring the fact that the anime and manga (I think) will also follow suit. As long as people like us keep buying and playing (the first really being the big thing there) Pokemon will be around with that horizon waiting for a long time. Of course when that time comes I'll be very sad because as it stands Pokemon is a big portion of my life.
 
As long as it brings in money it's not going to end anytime soon. Remember how there were rumors floating around that D/P would be the last Pokemon games?
 
Like any other franchise, Pokemon will only end either when the fans collectively decide they don't like it anymore or Nintendo and Game Freak run out of ideas on how to keep it going. Though, I said some of the same stuff about Final Fantasy and The Legend of Zelda several years back and they're still going strong as ever.
 
It will end. Eventually. Right now, it's too much of a moneymaker to just abruptly end it. But, when the people at Nintendo run out of ideas, it's time to put the legend to rest.
 
I hope it will at leats go on till generation 10. then if they do end pokemon they shuld end it with a bang!!! lik a game where you can travel all arund the pokemon world to every region!!!! and anotther across america tour!!!
 
I think it will go to a 7th or 6th gen then its gone. Just because (dont spam me even u have to admit it soon) pokemon is dying. dare I say it but it is true. The card game just won't come out with something great an new, the Pokemon are getting... different, but I still love it all but everyone it will not last another 12 years... probably not.

OHH WHO AM I KIDDING GO POKEMON!!!!!!
