Scizor (Prime) from Undaunted (#82) [8/24]

RE: Scizor (Prime) from Undaunted (#84) [8/24]

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
On it's own, this card is quite great. It's Poke Body makes it so that no Pokemon can damage it as long as that Pokemon has Special Energy attached to it. Most decks right now use Special Energy Cards, so this card will make players across the globe re-think running Special Energy Cards in their decks. And that's just it's Poke Body. It's attack, for two energies, doesn't sound that great at first. Then, you read the text. The attack does 30 damage plus 20 more for each {M} energy attached to Scizor. This, paired with two special Metal Energies, hit's for 70 and reduces 20 damage. With damage reducing energies and a damage stopping attack, Scizor is a tanking beast that can also deal a quick punch.

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
Right now, this card is too new to have any Metagame decks yet. Plus, it came out right after the rotation, when every deck is undecided. Yet, looking at Scizor Prime itself, I see it as more of a tech than a Metagame deck. But, I do see two decks with it: The first being with Scizor Majestic Dawn. That Scizor hits for 50 more damage if the defending Pokemon has a Special Energy attached to it. Scizor Prime completely stops damage from a Pokemon that has a Special Energy attached to it. Combined, the two can stop a deck with Special Energies in it's tracks. Another Deck I see it fitting into is Steelix. Steelix Prime is meant to be a tank, while dealing a hit. Same with Scizor. They're both Metal, so they coincide. I see a 2-2 line of Scizor fitting in snugly into most Steelix lists. Otherwise, A 1-1 line with two Metal energies might fit into a deck that has problems with Special Energy decks.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
As a combo, there's not much. I do see one option: Skarmory Undaunted. It, for a Colorless Energy, searches your deck for a Metal Energy and it attaches it to one of your Pokemon. It's not much of a combo, but it's the only one I see.

4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
When this card first came out, I said, "What's all the hype?" As this post states, I now see the hype. Because of Scizor's versatility, I see it fitting into most decks. Heck, it could even be the next Luxray GL Lv.X. I can't give it a 5/5 yet, but I can easily give it a 4/5 for now.

5. How's the artwork?
The prime artwork, quite frankly, is boring. Mug shots. So amazing. As I've mentioned before, the Lv.X artwork is much better. But, for some reason, Scizor is one of few primes that catches my eye. Undaunted, really, has some good artwork altogether. For Scizor, maybe it's the combination of Red and Silver that adds the finishing touch. Maybe it's that it's striking a better pose than most Primes. Or maybe I'm biased. Who knows. Anyway, I give Scizor Prime a 4/5.

RE: Scizor (Prime) from Undaunted (#84) [8/24]

1. Definitely got some potential. A lot of people are using spacial energies so that's a plus.
2. Not sure yet, have not seen it played in any deck yet.
3. I can see it working with Steelix and Ursaring both prime. If you want to make a defensive metal deck with good counter attack. Also with new Dodrio on bench with it's Retreat Aid making it allot more easier to retreat that expansive steelix and ursaring and free any Pokemon 2 or less.
4. 3/5 It's good card but i think it can get over powered easaly by some other monsters if it's on your bench with no spacials it can get hit by other attacks like blastoise hydro luncher , or tyranitar prime with his Power claw witch isn't afeected by poke-powers, bodies, or any other effects on the defneding pokemon. So those spacial dark energy add 40 more damge, belt 20 more and 60= almost death unless you have 4 spacial metal on scizor.
5. Love the art of all the primes.

1.-How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?
It`s a good card, and have potential, first, the ability of Scizor allows you to keep your hp up, except when you face a card like Meganium or the basics.
The attack of Scisor gives a great advantage when you have the rigth mount of energy, he start attacking with 30 but can be 50 or more...
2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?
Actually, I don`t know any deck that use, or abuse, of metal energy.
maybe Garchomp.
3. What combos can you use it with? How so?
Maybe Skarmory looking for special energy
4. Give it a rating, and explain why you have given it that rating. You can also rate the card by rating the thread itself (out of 5 stars).
It`s a good card, and work exellent whit tank pokemon, like rsaring or Steelix. I give it 3/5
5. How's the artwork?
I don`t like the prime concept, but Scizor looks awesome

1. How does the card stand on its own? Is it good, bad, or have potential? Is it worth being played?

Absolutely. This card is quite powerful on its own, being able to attack turn 2 for 70 damage with an extremely easy setup (two metals on a stage 1 is far from difficult to acquire).

2. What popular metagame decks is it used in?

It's going to evolve into its own archetype.

3. What combos can you use it with? How so?

Skarmory-UD and Mawile-UD complement it very nicely. Skarmory can take special OR basic metals from your deck and attach them directly in order to simultaneously power up Scizor and buff his defense, or turn Skarmory into an unkillable earlygame wall with 80 HP and special metals while focusing on attaching basic metals to Scizor (which makes the penalty for having one of your Scizors KOed much lesser). Mawile can use the crazy good Selfish Draw in conjunction with Fisherman, Burned Tower, or Energy Exchanger to send basic metals to the discard pile and pull valuable special metals, trainers, or Pokemon to set Scizor up even faster.

In my Scizor Prime deck, I also run a 3-3 Gligar/Gliscor-UD line. Neither of them help Scizor itself, but it's another low-cost stage 1 family with crazy output. Scizor is self-sufficient enough to be ready to kill anything quickly on its own or with Skarmory's help.

This card is bizarrely good. I'm alarmed that nobody has acknowledged this here. Turn 2 70 damage is nothing short of ridiculous; it's what got Zapdos EX noticed. 5/5 without a question. That Pokebody is straight ridiculous.

5. How's the artwork?

Don't really care for it. It's kinda cool, I suppose.

Oh yeah, and I easily won a UD prerelease tourney with one copy of this card and one Gliscor. <_<

1. It doesn't do much on its own but combined with Special metal energies, it's like putting on 2 Plus power and half a defender with every attachment and permanent too!
2. As I play it in my main deck, I believe it has potential to become its own metagame. Perhaps in an HGSS on format as long as there are not ridiculous Fire type arch decks that mirror Gdos in tenacity.
3. I combo it with Umbreon UD for effective SP and general deck counter. Skarmory for tank up and Shaymin UL for energy recycle/preservation/movement.
4. Once again on a personal level, 5/5. Scizor is officially one of my favourite pokemon of all time.
5. Agree with shaymindude, shows a darkside. Though it was a Dark prefix pokemon when I first saw it. 3.5/5 for art.
