Hey, everyone! Over the past week or two we've seen some very unique gyms, one of which could potentially be a multi-type gym (Dento). With the wave of unique gyms we have been seeing, and to go along with the new and exciting seasonal feature, would a seasonal gym be out of the question? Rather than alternating types between season (that could get a bit strange), we would have 4 types in the gym; fire for summer, poison(?) for fall, ice for winter, and grass for spring. What does everybody think?

Discuss!

So, you don't want to alternate types between seasons, but you'd like to have fire, poison, ice, and grass alternate between seasons?

Anyways, I'd like the gym leaders' pokemon to change between seasons, enough if the types don't change. Maybe this will be the way the game lets you re-battle the gym leaders. Good idea.

No, sorry for the confusion, it'd probably be either changing type each season (idk, maybe you could return each season as a side quest for some rewards), or just having 4 types year-round, each one representing a season.

Sorry, but I had to correct that. Each season appears 3 times a year, not 4, unless you were meaning something else.

Now On-Topic: This is a great idea. If this happens, I'll be one happy Pokemon fan :D

God this is confusing...

This is what SinnohTrainer17 means (I think) in his 2nd idea...

Lets say a gym leader, who I shall call Jim, has 4 pokemon in his party. For whatever reason, Jim has chosen to have one of his pokemon represent a different season - Spring, Summer, Autumn/Fall, Winter - so he has one grass type, one fire type, one poison type and one ice type.
Now, regardless of the time of year you play the game, whether it be Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr, May, Jun etc., you will always face the same team when battling Jim.
So actually the seasonal in game effects have no impact on Jim's gym. It just happens to be that Jim's gym choices are because he as a person wanted to reflect the diversity of the seasons in his team.

Is that right?

How about a gym that has a different puzzle each season and maybe you can rematch gym leaders when ever. So he can change when you come back in a months time?

I wouldn't want it because the next month you would have to throw out your super-effective team that you planned out and train new super-effective types, only to see that the training lasted a month and you had to re-train AGAIN. Unless you weren't lazy and actually changed the month on the DS's calendar.

So you go through the game with a team that's only effective against one type and not the other? When I play the game, I make sure I can beat all gym leaders' mono-type teams. I don't throw out my super-effective team and train a new team for the next gym leader, who has different-typed pokemon.

No, I meant that either:

1. The gym would change types with the season (when winter becomes spring, the gym's type becomes grass). This way you would be able to return to the gym as a side quest each season.

2. The gym would remain all 4 types through out the year, rather than switching types throughout the cycle. This would mean you could expect fire, grass, ice, poison year round.

Also- if this were to happen, what would you think of the types? Would you expect something like fire, ice, grass, and poison, or something else?

Interesting idea. I would probably change Autumn to Flying though.

Yeah, autumn is the only issue. Multiple types could be fair candidates for fall o_O I wouldn't mind flying either, though ^_^

I would affiliate Autumn with Ghost. Plants are dying out, and the vitality from summer dies out as well.

I like that as well, that's somewhat why I associated poison with Autumn as well.

Lol, that's what I do, that's why I have like 10 boxes full of level 70 Pokemon before the Elite 4 :p

Wow. That's a lot of pokemon. Looks like you shouldn't have a problem with gym leaders changing their pokemon.

a gym with different puzzles each season is a cool idea but his/her team changing...wont happen

I would after a while, which is why I end up getting a whole new team and train it, just for a new gym leader :p

I would not want this simply because it would be way too easy to abuse it. Also, most people would beat the game in a month so it wouldnt really make a difference. Now (slightly offtopic) I think a version exclusive gym leader is not out of the question...

They said there would be A LOT of version differences, so I don't see why the final gym leader wouldn't be a version exclusive.

I wouldn't mind this.

And personally, I don't think a four type gym is out of the question, especially if it had 4 "mini-puzzles" (one for each season). The gym would have 4 areas to it, one for winter, spring, ect. They would each have trainers that had types specific to that season, until the gym leader, who would have a multi-type party (4 Pokemon, possibly?).

Just thinking out loud :p

That would confuse me. WAY to many types for one gym to handle.
