Pokequaza said:450 Pokémon isn't fun anymore. B2W2 had already too much, a lot were just route specific, it felt like a huge mess, there wasn't a consistency. ''How much Pokémon can we fit in one game?'', not even mentioning the spread, which was even worse. 300 is a maximum, although I rather see a number between 200 and 250, but I have to admit that I don't see that happening any time soon.
BW2's problem wasn't as much about how many were in the Unova Dex, but where they were found. Too many of the old Pokemon added to the Dex were simply put in new areas or left in areas that were post game in BW1, that's why it felt like such a huge inconsistent mess. If they had spread more Pokemon into other areas, the distribution wouldn't have been as problematic. It's a problem with the approach they took when making this game a sequel, BW2 is the one that feels rushed because it doesn't really feel like they put much thought into how the altered storyline path would affect certain aspects of the game (you can see this very easily with things like Pokemon distribution and the lack of a Day Care before post game, it's messed up because it's still going off BW1's storyline path). Honestly, this more worrying for a potential XY2 than XY, though.
Although given how small and clustered Unova is, I do think 300 was a bit much there, even when taking Double Grass and Shaking Spot mechanics into account (which also could've helped the distribution a bit if GF had any damn clue how to use them). Kalos could probably accommodate 300-400 reasonably, but I don't think they should go much higher because by that point they'd probably have to start cramming tons of Pokemon into a particular area.
