Hey, don't know if you already know this, but Shining Genesect/Venusaur is doing well in Memphis Regionals! Here is a list I think is being played (just based on what I saw/heard) by Harrison Grandish.
Pokemon - 16
3 Shining Genesect - SHL
3 Bulbasaur - SHL
1 Ivysaur - SHL
3 Venusaur - SHL
1 Remoraid - BKT
1 Octillery - BKT
1 Formantis - SUM
1 Lurantis GX - SUM
2 Tapu Lele GX - GRI
Trainers - 31
4 Professor Sycamore
4 N
2 Bridgette
3 Guzma
2 Skyla
4 Ultra Ball
3 Rare candy
2 Wishful Baton
1 Revitalizer
3 Max Elixir
2 Float Stone
2 Field Blower
Energy - 12
12 Grass Energy
So, it doesn't include Zoroark GX which I think is currently the better option since Zoroark GX is being targeted a lot currently (most of the decks in Memphis were Buzzwole GX). No Tapu Bulu GX (which I'm still not certain if it is or isn't in his list) is interesting, but he does play a 1-1 line of Lurantis GX, so energy acceleration is made a little easier. No Super Rod seems too risky, but it seems to be working just fine for him. Wishful Baton seems like an interesting concept (not sure if he had three or two), it accelerates energy a lot more than Exp. Share, but I couldn't see a single copy of Choice Band or Fighting Fury Belt, so that seems a little strange to me. So, based upon what I saw with this list, he plays it almost like a Greninja Break deck by banking off the fact that Shining Genesect is a one-prize attacker. Instead of preserving Shining Genesects like the list we're working on, he focuses on making sure that he has another one ready when the active one gets K.O.ed. Some changes I'd make to this list personally would be...
-1 Revitalizer: I honestly think that Super Rod is better, but since this deck plays Lurantis GX, I guess energy doesn't stay in the discard for too long (with Wishful Baton it may not even get there in the first place).
-1 Prof. Sycamore: For space purposes since Octillery helps with draw support most of the time.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
+1 Super Rod: Energy recycle option.
+1 Wishful Baton: Helps with consistency (if a few get discarded by Field Blower) and saves energy.
I'd like to find room for a Tapu Bulu GX, but that seems a little clunky at the moment and discarding energy doesn't go well with this particular list (keep in mind, I don't know the exact list, this is just my guess after looking at him sifting through his deck after Ultra Ball and other search options). Let me know what you think, thanks!
