Shiny Mega Gengar and Diancie Distributions at Gamestop [9/8]

I just called EB Games in Canada and they are unsure if they will be doing this promotion. It makes me sad. I really want shiny gengar! lol

EB Games didn't partake in the last promotion either with the stones for heracross and pinsir, so we will have to see if they will participate in this as well.

If anyone gets extra codes of these events please PM me the codes so I can use the codes when the events come out. I had to do this with the Haracross /Pinsir event and someone sent me a code for the Mega stone for Haracross. If anyone gets extra codes please PM me. Thanks XD.:)

I kinda would like them to bring back the Event Items instead of just giving us the legendary Pokemon.
Since there's a few areas in the game that have "no purpose" or are locked.
Like those other plants outside Luminose, or that cave that's empty (I know there's a mega stone there).

They might still offer something for those areas. Though it's far from concrete their has been rumors that Volcanion may have something to do with those areas that are locked in the power plant areas outside of Luminose. The only way to know that though is when they reveal it. Since it's still two months out from even receiving Diancie for our games I suspect it will be at least another six months after this one that we learn about any of the other two event Pokemon, Volcanion and Hoopla. Plus there is still the question of rather there is more to Zygarde or not, and if so what it requires.

Well it would give us a reason to keep playing X/Y.
Right now there's not much to do besides breeding, battle Maison, and Friend Safaris.

Yeah what is with separating the items from the Pokemon besides for getting more revenue? Why not add the items on with the Pokemon like in the past? Makes no sense to do that XD.:)

I suppose in theory items could have nothing to do with it. Maybe those doors at the power plant unlock just by virtue of having Volcanion on your team.

I agree at some point you lose incentive to continue with the game aside from improving your Pokemon and even that ends at level 100. For me personally I don't even do anything with friend safaris.

So wait does this mean we have to buy the code or ask for it when at gamestop? And also do we have to pay for it?

If it works like the code for the mega stones you have to ask the gamestop person for it, though it shouldn't cost anything. At least for me it was behind their monitors.

Which Power Plant? You mean the X/Y one right or is there another power plant I am missing? Also it should be an electric type Pokemon to unlock the doors. Maybe Pikachu or Raichu or Pichu. Also could be Rotom or another Electric type Pokemon like Amphros etc. Also which doors in the games are you guys talking about or is this in the new Pokemon games?:)

In the Kalos Power Plant there are 4 doors, 3 of them are closed and can't be opened. Anyway, I was hoping for an in-game event for Diancie.. It was hidden for months, and now it's like "Oh yeah, there's another one, here you go!"... I hope that the other "hidden" legendaries will have an event, maybe connected with the Power Plant or the totally unused station in Couriway Town... I also have this "Strange Souvenir" and I don't know what to do with it... I was hoping for more contents to come, but now that ORAS are on the horizon, I think we're done with Kalos.

Ok I see now. I bet that is where all the in game secret Pokemon are but for us they never release the event keys for getting the events in game. Anyone know why that is? They always release the event out game with exception to the R/S/E Era. They released the ticket events in game but never out game events IRC XD.:)

Do you think they are going to have that event for Australia? If so, I CANNOT wait to get Diancie! My friend already has a Shiny Diancie so I want to show it to him straight away. And I also can't wait for the Gengar!

I'd just like to say that I VASTLY prefer mega gengar non-shiny than the shiny one. The purple and red look better IMO.

Tell your friend that he is a cheater and doesn't deserve to play Pokemon

Sorry, I hate hackers

Shiny Gengar Distribution, Pre-order?

So today I went to GameStop to pick up a shiny Gengar code, and I also got 2 of the spirit link packs. So I asked them if they had the Shiny Gengar, and they told me they did but I would have to pre-order or/as, and I was pretty sure you didn't have to, one of the idiot employees told me that the shiny gengar code was in the spirit link pack, and i had to explain to them what the spirit link pack was. But anyways they wouldn't give me a code, and their manager wasn't there so I couldn't do anything. To be honest, that was total BS. So yeah, I hate when they do this, please tell me if they are supposed to do this or not. I hear that they did this with the pinsir/heracross distribution when the website says that all you have to do is ask them. This is one of the many reasons I hate GameStop. -PokémonLover903

RE: Shiny Gengar Distribution, Pre-order?

A GameStop employee posted a story on reddit addressing this type of problem. GS employee have to meet a sales and pre-order quota (unless the ore-order falls under the sales quota), so they will try to get you to preorder a copy of the game no matter what. But they are not allowed to do this! Most of them don't know they aren't supposed to do that, but people are sometimes ignorant. Honestly the only way to go around this is just to straight up say you don't want to pre-order and that you are allowed to get code with pre-ordering the game. Don't lie to them, they can easily see if you did in their database.
Edit: I'll just quote them here:
So with the Heracross and Pinsir Megastone giveaways ending, and the Shiny Gengar/Shiny Diancie starting in a few weeks, just thought I would give you all a heads up on what we as Gamestop Employees can and can not do when it comes to codes. This is going to be honest, but not every Gamestop employee will listen.
Things you should understand first:
First off, I do not speak for GameStop as a company. I am speaking on behalf on what our online handbook says to do for these distributions, and what not to do. If something in here makes you mad, it is not my fault, nor any other GameStop Employee. Understand that most of us are minimum wage workers who have sales quotas and do not appreciate being punching bags for the GameStop circlejerk.
What we are allowed to do:
We can give codes to anybody. EVEN IF YOU HAVE NOT PREORDERED ORAS. This is the biggie, and the main point of making this thread. If an employee tells you this, he is lying. The main reason, we have quotas on preorders. Ask to speak to the STORE MANAGER. If you just say "manager", the Senior Game Advisor (to whom preorders still matter to) could claim to be the manager and still say you need to preorder. To SMs, preorders are less important to, and thus have less reason to lie to you. I am not going to lie to any of my customers.
We can give you a reasonable amount of codes. This is up to the discretion of the employee. We get a limited supply of codes, so by taking multiple you are only hurting people who also want the codes, because they may want some as well. Please be nice and share.
What we are not allowed to do:
Refuse to give you the code because you have not preordered ORAS. If an employee does this, talk to the manager. If the manager says "you need to preorder", that is against store policy. Consider going higher up if you feel like it, but remember that we are all just cheap retail employees trying to do our jobs.
Force you to preorder for any reason. If you don't want to preorder, don't. Get your code, tell them no thanks (because they WILL try pushing the preorder on you, which we are supposed to do for numbers reasons), and then leave.
Some Game Advisors (the lowest level) were taught that is what they are supposed to do, which is the Store Manager's fault, not the employee. Don't take it out on us, if an employee is rude to you just report them.
Also, don't lie about having it preordered already. We can easily see if someone has something preordered or not, it is a two button click on our computers. It isn't worth it and will only cause an argument. If you try getting your code and can't, there is really nothing you can do at that point. I am hoping other GameStop employees read this and understand that not everybody is going to preorder, thats not a reason to lie to your customers. And to the customers, I apologize if an employee lies to you or refuses you the code, it is on them, not GameStop as a whole.
The Gengar event runs from Oct 13-26, and the Diancie event runs from Oct 27-Nov 16.

Edit: People seem to be going on about "oh now I can get multiple codes". No. You can't. We can refuse to give you more codes. 2 is reasonable. 10 is not. It also really isn't cool, because we run out, and some people who haven't gotten any codes will not get them before you. Please at least respect your fellow pokefans.

Edit2: I am getting a lot of private messages of people begging me for codes. Please stop asking me. I am sorry that there is no gamestop is around you, it is in another country, you are banned from going into gamestops (yes I got someone who said that), I am not going to take a bunch of extra codes and send them to you all. I'm sorry, but I am giving the codes the store gives me to my customers.

Yeah, I saw the guy Happy Gengar on youtube get ten codes, that is really not fair to a lot of people, I might get 3 codes, 2 for me,1 for my cousin, but 10 codes is just selfish.

Yeah, but they had them early, they had the spirit link booster, and they had the codes, so today i went back, and another employee gave me one. I just irritates me that they have to push preorders.
