Skyfield

So... theoretically, what if we got 4 of this card out on the bench (in expanded, mind you)?

I imagine terrible, terrible things.

Hmmmm interesting card:
I r8 8/8 m8, gr8!

^^^lol it would stay at x4. It doesn't stack

Edit: to make this post less spam like

Not sure how good it will be, in all honesty I think it's pretty bad. I mean I could see the value of 9 pokes in play at a time, but what happens when they counter your stadium?? I like it, I like that pokemon is trying new things with the cards they make, but with such an over powered and less strategic metagame it seems like it'll take a year or two of EXTREMELY creative cards like this to make the TCG something really freakin cool

Nothing more than the effect would happen. Every Ability is still 4x. :p

I think Skyfield opens up an opportunity for decks like Empoleon to be good again, but I also think that Seismitoad/Garbodor could have a strong comeback thanks to the people who will play Ninetales.

I am very disappointed...

I feel that if you planned on running a deck that ran based off of 'do the wave attacks,' your opponent wouldn't play down as many benched pokemon. In theory, Absol can be doing 180 with the new stadium without a muscle band/deoxys, but thats all assuming that your opponent even wants to bench 8 benched pokemon. Even in decks like empoleon, you are hoping that you have 9 pokemon and your opponent has 9 pokemon for that 'magical' 180 damage kicker (or less with bands I guess), but if your opponent knows anything about how 'do the wave' decks work I doubt that the will bench any more then 5 with the stadium out. I'm not really going to include shiftry because while it has a better empoleon attack (20x all benched), the stage 2 combined with a 3 energy attack kills its playability for me.

Emolga, Empoleon, Ninetales, and Target Whistle make 180 a possibility. Now, if there was a card that could discard stuff from your opponent's hand or deck without devoting much space, that would help give you a near guaranteed 180. Maybe there is, but I haven't looked yet. Anyway, I can certainly see this working. As it is, even when I'm playing Empoleon, I seldom see people keeping their bench size down. I'm often hitting 110+ without a Muscle Band, so adding 30 yourself, and a Silver Bangle (Because let's be honest, you won't need a Muscle Band to hit Non-EX's harder with Empoleon), you're doing 170 with your opponent still having just 4 benched Pokemon.

Don't forget that Skyfield can help Gallade LTR in Expanded: When using attack no. 2: 8(bench maximum from Skyfield, if they all have at least 1 damage counter on them at the time of Gallade's attack) * 20(damage coefficient per damaged pokemon) + 60(base damage) = 220: 20 damage shy of a M Aggron KO, which can be addressed w/ 1 Strong Energy or even a Muscle Band...

^ Even so, in a related point, Roaring Skies, as well as Skyfield(the topic's card), will be tournament-legal in the States at either the final open season, or the start of the final League Gym season before US Nationals, as Gym seasons last five weeks(or six, if you count the open season week after the Gym season concludes), and since Play! Points dictate whether or not you have to focus on next year's Worlds, if you are in the TCG for the big-ticket prizes, or if you have a chance to score a Worlds invite by means of being able to participate in the Nationals, you may find this set not tournament-legal in almost all Regionals, and by the time it is tournament-legal, if you don't have at least 1-6 Play! Points less than the requisite amount of Play! Points needed to qualify for Nationals(depending on how close you are to the location of the last Spring Regional tourney of the 2015 Play! Pokemon season) by the time the week of the final Regional starts, you might not be able to see how B&W sets are impacted by this card in the Standard format, for yourself, in any Play! Pokemon tournament held post-US-Independence Day, because that's when the Play! Pokemon season reaches its "past-cliff point" when if you don't have the qualifications, you will be overlooked and denied a shot at the big prizes that Worlds offers, and unless you want to participate in side events, you will have to watch from home, and wait another season, and/or maybe another update of your collection(due to factors such as rotation of older cards) to get another crack at that same place. And because there's a chance that the remnants of the B&W-era sets in Standard(with B&W through DRX already gone, that leaves BCR through LTR still in standard-legal until at least September)will see the standard-legal axe come the upcoming rotation, unless you're an Expanded format fan, I suggest that if you want to use Skyfield at any point in the current Play! Pokemon season, understand that you may have to wait until Nationals, a tourney in which the main event requires a set amount of Play! Points to get in, in order to do so with more people watching you...

But this is where my point is leading to. Is 170/180 going to be enough for next format? Pokemon now have anywhere between 190-250 hp now, so even with the extra bench spots AND a silver bangle you are only doing 210 MAX...aka not enough to knock out a mega gengar, lucario, primals, etc.

Fair enough. It can't OHKO Megas and Primals. That is a valid point. However, I'd still like to think being able to OHKO any non-Mega is a relevant skill. Also, how many decks ARE able to OHKO Megas? At the very least, Empoleon offers an even prize trade against Megas, barring Max Potion or similar. And Empoleon still needs just 1 energy.

I see concern with the discarding portion of the card, but don't you get to pick which cards you send? This would allow you to get rid of some snipeable targets, like Jirachi EX or something with a large amount of damage without giving your opponent prizes.

This is a very good point that I hadn't thought of. You could even play Skyfield and another stadium and change when you need a free (albeit to discards) scoop up.

I don't know why people are so keen to dismiss this card.

It's a very powerful effect, even if somewhat fragile. As such, it *will* enable new strategies, make people look at some cards in a different light, amd lead some people to try new decks. They may be really successful, they may be somewhat successful. They might not. That is all people are talking about- not that it is the basis of new T1 decks, or the new BDIF. They are just excited about possibilities.

Noivern VS Night March with Skyfield

GG thanks for the easy prizes.

But seriously, I can see some decks utilizing this/someone coming up with a deck centered around it, but other than that - it is overhyped. There are plenty of better stadium cards out there with better uses. If Stadiums can be defended in some way for the next set - Why stick to Skyfield when some decks have better opportunities?

Like some cards - This is just a temporary hype card. Dialga decks went absolutely nowhere (over here anyway... ) and people were hyping the heck out of that.

This stadium could be used in expanded with Acelgor/ Trevenant/ Dusknoir. I found that when I played this deck I alows filled my bench up and at times didnt get cards on the bench that I wanted like sometimes not being able to get dusknoir because i have to play Jirachi EX and Voltorb as well as at least 1 trevenant and at leat 2 acelgor.
