News 'Snorlax GX Box' in December!

One thing I'm wondering about, regarding this product, is the regular Snorlax promo. Will it be a XY-promo or a Sun/Moon promo? Especially considering it has the look of the old cards from Evolutions. Maybe they'll just release the last of those promos (the two Pikachu and the Charizard, perhaps also Trade Please) in boxes or blisters as Sun/Moon promos? Whatever the promo is, I'll probably be buying the box, since I really like the look of the two cards!

This wouldn't be as bad of an issue with the box if we didn't already have another FIVE boxes like this coming out in the upcoming two months. It's one thing when they're spaced out like the Starter Trio and Pikachu Generation Boxes or the Trio of Tins every four months or so but there is going to be so much product crammed out these last months it's going to overfill shelves. The quantity of TCG products coming out the last part of this year is pretty nuts.

I'm OK with this products under normal circumstances but they are just throwing everything they can on 20th anniversary hype.

On the topic of promos in other products I'm a little sketchy on it IF it's exclusive to it. There's a chance that if it's a REALLY amazing card and there's a limited run that might be really constraining and get to levels of crazy Bison Dollars to get copies of it. I'm amazed with the talk about the YuGiOh Promos no one's mentioned that HARPIES FEATHER DUSTER was one of those game promos. Another Terrible example is Mana Crypt for Magic being a powerful acceleration card being a limited print for a book. That card demands bonkers amount of cash for it due to that.

The Snorlax Box wouldn't be as bad as at least unlike previous years you actually get a playable copy of it showing a 'new' mechanice but as I said I can count the reasons on my hand it looks worse this year.

True, we have three Mega premium collections coming up (Beedrill, Garchomp, Salamence). We have the tin thing with the shiny M. Gengar. The Sun and Moon thing with the three starters. I'm sure there's more somewhere.

You're right about the Harpie's Feather Duster, I just never thought of it because I got it, a couple of them actually :p

The five Kanto boxes with Charizard, Gengar, Kagaskhan, Dragonite, and Mewtwo coming out within these two months. They're all reprints of XY EXes.

True, but honestly I have to wonder how well these will sell. If they're promos, hence making them good for standard, how many will really sell if they simply have the originals to use? And if they're not helpful for standard than it's even less likely they'll sell. The jumbos are the only reason I might even consider getting them, and it's probably just easier to buy them on ebay separately.

Whereas I expect the ones I mentioned to actually sell because they have new cards.

Yay! FREE EVOLUTIONS BOOSTER PACKS!!!

I am Okay with Snorlax-GX

I wish that Salamence cards, Garchomp cards, Volc, Mag, Shiny M- Gengar and some Kanto EXs were stll XY promos.

Man, the number of box sets this fall/winter is going to be stagering. And I tought it was bad already...

I really think they should do more to reduce their overreliance on box sets going into the future. I'm fine with the SM ones we know about so far, since those are all "new era" box sets, but they're going to be a coming out in the shadow of a gazillion boxes to end the XY era. You want those "new era" box sets to be big sellers & draw people into the SM series of cards, but all these XY box sets coming out all at once before hand makes that harder to do. Also, having a bunch of box sets come out all in a cluster makes it harder for people to keep up and buy them all (or want to buy them all), with the pricier box sets (like premium collections) being the ones people'll likely skip on first. They've been doing this for a while, too, though not quite as bad as the upcoming dump.

So yeah, they should do a better job of spacing box sets out a bit & not making too many of them.

As for the actual card here, I still like the basic "one use only" mechanic of GX attacks, but still dislike just how powerful they seem to be making them, as well as the fact that they look to be EX only, continuing to screw over evos and over-boost big basics. Beyond that, I'm still gonna hold off on judging the other specifics of the card until we see the full SM set to see what this new era is really bringing to the table.

CHILLING OUT WITH THE CREW IN THE SCHOOL YARD

(This damn song is going to be in my head for the next three years)

I like the idea of an attack u can only use once per game thats sick, different, cool, fun, whatever (like hippowdon's sand reset, i always thought that was cool ) but i dont like it being called a "GX" attack, like what does GX even mean? GIGA X-PLOSION?!!? Generic exercise?
Well, EX meant EXTREME, so I would assume GX means GALAXY?
Maybe... nah, I got nothing else. Probably just Grand Xylophonist.

That second attack name on Snorlax-GX. LOL.

Anyway, looks like I might have to pick this one up. The Jungle reprint is enough to make me want it. Nostalgia!

Wow, love this box. LOVE that it includes the snorlax from the earlier set, free of charge! What I wonder is, will they actually improve how easily you can take the cards out in these new gx boxes?...that would be nice....

More interesting and worthwile then any other Genwun rerelease box of any kind for the last year. Ironic in some way how its not technically a 20th Anniversary or Evolutions product either. However it would had been nicer had it featured Sun/Moon Base Set packs but I suppose we are soon approaching that generation limbo time once again for product generation shifts.

The wording on Snorlax-GX's 'Pulverizing Pancake' attack is pretty redundant. If you can't use it unless you're Asleep, then why do you need to state that it does nothing if it isn't Asleep. Other than that, seems like a typical unplayable promo!

I hope that they reprint the blastoise, venusuar, and alakazam lines from base set. These lines pull base set together. I was really upset they didn't make it to evolutions. At least Snorlax made it. :p
