The avatar looks great sonic gal, but it says it is too large, could you maybe make it a tad smaller?

Use an image hoster. The dimensions for online links is larger than images uploaded directly for your computer to the forum.

@ Unknown: If you are using Photoshop, take a regular round hard brush and set the brush settings to scattering and play with it until you like the outcome.
