Spiritomb LTR

I've been playing Yveltal/M-Manetric recently and when I look at other lists online most of them seem to incorporate Spiritomb LTR as a counter for VirGen. I tried adding it to my list but found that it was just a dead card or bad starter in any matchup except VirGen, and even when facing a VirGen deck they would just Red Signal it out and KO it immediately. Sure it bought me a turn of no G-Booster but is one turn worth the prize it gives up?

What do you guys think? Is it worth making space for Spiritomb in my deck?

There's no point running it unless you're running it with Garb to counter Red Signal, but then you're probably going to running too many different lines which will make your deck clunky and inconsistent.

I wouldn't bother.

It wouldn't work with Garbodor anyway since that would shut off Sealing Scream and give them back G-Booster.

I wouldnt run it because it only helps in the Vir/Gen match up and even then it dosent help very much. It would also hurt you if you had not used your computer search or dowzing machine yet. I would just use the spot for another attacker or a different tech card.

if VirGen is common in your local meta and you're expecting a lot of it, then Spiritomb is a good play. While it doesn't help in other matchups, it does a very good job of annoying VirGen. In most situations they won't waste a turn to Red Signal it, because you should have a built up Yveltal (or two) that will continue to do heavy damage, and even one turn spent not hitting it could put them behind. The only time they will Red Signal Spiritomb is it they know they can't be KOed in return, or have so much energy on the field (in which case you shouldn't have let them Emerald Slash for so long) that they can drop the G-Booster and start using it relentlessly. Even then, it's still a Plasma Energy wasted, since it's just one prize. This is one of those "know your local meta" cases. If you expect to see a lot of VirGen at an event, then you should play Spiritomb. If not many people in your area play VirGen, then don't bother.

Forgot Garbotoxin affects your own Pokémon too :')

I played it today in Yveltal. It definitely improves the VirGen match up. While they could Red Signal Spiritomb amd KO it, that's a turn they aren't one-shooting your EX's, and I've found that Spiritomb in conjunction with Head Ringers makes it difficult for the VirGen player to get out G Booster. Not so difficult that it's an auto win, but enough to where it's something your opponent has to deal with. I suppose you could also play Spiritomb in other match ups after you've already played your Ace Spec.

It's pretty much all been said, but I want to emphasize the notion that Spiritomb is NOT going to be blocking their G booster the whole game. All it does is delay the G Booster a turn or two, giving you time to get your field ready for an upcoming OHKO (and you can get ready to kill the Genesect with G booster on it right after it shows up). If a given matchup is improved by gaining a turn or two before you get G Booster'd, then yes, Spiritomb is good in a V/G filled meta.
