SSB Brawl Discussion Thread

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Yes, Sakurai solely put it in for the game's balance. I recently read a news story containing a little bit o his insight towards the game going competitive. What I think he was getting at was that Smash Bros.' intent was to be a fun party game, hence no leaderboards in Brawl. Tripping was made to skew the favor of vitory away from a Pro to allow a casual player to play/win.

I haven't perused all the screenshots yet, but just like last time, all of them are funny and I like them. Nice joke at the end, Sakurai. You know you like those pictures. You just keep them for yourself. -__- Here's hoping to a release date for Europe on Monday, right HS? :p

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Could care less, the Freeloader is out, the damage has been done, I hope Nintendo learns a lesson.

Actually, the Japanese screenshots have 1 screenshot where undergarments are shown, which makes me believe that Nate is the one who added that little quote at the end. I also ran the bottom text of the Japanese page through a translator, and nothing seemed to even hint at a mention of undergarments.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Somethng very bad happen to me the other day i was playing classic so to defeat an enemy i use a pokeball with it hit him and die , when you finish a classic you got a slow mode time for just a few time and i saw and it was celebi. When I finished the classic it said You saw clebi for the first time is pretty good luck or somethng like that. But it was really bad luck because how it came out. But other day it appear and it took all the trophies just a week later.

Another interesting think I created in the stage builder a stage in whicn you could figth with out end. on the top side i cover it with the spikes and the other sides i cover it with normal blocks so my brother and it appear in the midle so we hit our self until we get to 999 and you cannot get hurt againg anf it was very funny doing that the onlyway that you could get out is with the star that take you up and go down.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Did you get his trophy when you saw him?:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

the second time yes the first one he just show and then it said clear and then i didn't see something

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

i actually saw celebi before mew on brawl but it appereared near the edge so two of the 3 trophies that it dropped fell of the stage.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

I haven't seen any of those Legendaries yet. Maybe I should play with Pokeballs on High more often. :O

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Also Play with the Hammer and beam sword. Put these items on very high or high. Leave the Pokeballs on high otherwise the CPU will steal them faster than you can pick them up. Then play on either Pokemon level. I did this in Melee and it worked.:) Oh I don't have Brawl but I have played the other 2 games enough to know that it will work in Brawl. The game is almost the same as Melee except with more characters and other stuff but It will work if you do it.:) This is Absolutely the Final update of Super Smash Bros. Dojo.

Here it is:

Notice: No Further Updates
Notices

This Smash blog has spanned about 300 posts in almost 11 months, but now it is time to say goodbye.

Before creating this site, I knew I wanted it to be updated 5 days a week and support several languages. It was clear that this would be a massive scale for a website dedicated to a single game.

A lot of people around me were particularly concerned when I told them I planned to write blog posts while development was ongoing and continue to provide updates. Some argued, some just looked concerned, and others asked, "Can you really do this?!"

And all of the text in the articles was written by yours truly, Masahiro Sakurai. Make no mistake.

But the real credit for making the unthinkable possible should go to the Brawl staff who took screenshots and did follow-up work, and the Nintendo home-page staff who did the updates.

I also must thank the localization staff of Nintendo of America, who did the translation from Japanese to English, as well as the language specialists on the European production staff who handled the translation to several more languages.

I feel gratitude for those who helped that I can barely express in words. This site has been supported by so many staff members.

I created the Dojo with the intention of offering breaking news-type updates prior to the release of the game, and organizing the site so that it could be used as a database of features in the game after its release.

Now that Brawl is available, I am hoping that players will continue to use the site as a resource for information.

Also, there’s always a chance that I will need to update sometime in the future with some kind of announcement.

Thank you, everyone!

Anyway I hope this thread can stay open. Post anything about Brawl here. If you have cheats Post them by all means. I just want the thread to live on.:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Waiting for a characters to come *coughnesscoughlucas* Also hoping for characters to come, i have a long list that i will post later. All the items and the subspace videos. Man im going to miss this.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Boy, how long has it been since I been to this topic? Well, whatever, I'm back at the Dojo's death, lol.

So, how's everyone doing with the challenges? I have 126 completed (2 left). Here's what I'm missing:

- Clear 100-Man Brawl with all characters. (only a matter of time for this one)
- Collect all stickers. (rofl good luck to me)

However, I did hear that there are 700 stickers in the game, and while I don't feel like going to the Dojo to hand count the entire list, I'm really hoping 700 is the number, because as of this writing, I have 639 stickers.

I have no idea what the trophy count is. I have 505 trophies.

I beat Boss Battles on Intense yesterday, using Ness. Ness has lots of fun in Boss Battles, since 2 bosses can heal him (Duon's purple lasers and Master Hand's bullets), which really helps in conserving heart usage. Of course, there's still dodging the attacks of the bosses, which is actually not hard once you memorize what the attacks are and know exactly when to dodge them. Galleom gave me some trouble with his I-fall-on-you-gg attack, and the attack where he reverts to tank form and zooms across the screen, but falls on you from above instead of coming back on screen, gg.

begin end boss of SSE spoilers
Surely you have to remember in the SSE when Tabuu used the Off Waves attack to turn all the fighters back into trophies right? GOD I HATE THAT MOVE SO MUCH. Trophification = death, and on intense mode, the Off Waves attack is a one-hit kill; it does 40-50% I believe and the knockback is like getting hit with five home run bats. -_- (Porky's stupid dash attack I'm pretty sure is a OHKO, I've never been hit with it on Intense and not died almost immediately) It took some practicing with every other character (had to clear that mode with all characters), but thankfully I was able to avoid it not once, but twice, to clear Intense.
end spoilers

Fox and pals can also have some fun reflecting various things (Rayquaza's energy attacks, Meta Ridley's multiple fireball attacks, Duon's purple lasers, Master Hand's bullets) as well.

So I guess if anyone needs Intense Boss Battles help, I'd be glad to offer advice :p

Anyone start/stop using characters from their initial list of characters you planned on using? I, like most of PB, I've found, have started using Toon Link and god is he fun. I don't spam dairs like everyone else does though -_-

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Yeah, Toon link's too good in this game, 3 decent projectiles with different uses, and a great set of disjointed high-priority B-moves, I don't know what Sakurai was thinking, but I know he likes cats, so yeah, it was probably something like: "He has cat eyes, so he must be better than Link in every possible way, end of discussion"

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Freeloader pwns, I can brawl now.

BTW, how do you keep a trophy stand for a boss fight?

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

You don't, you just wait for them to appear during the boss fight.
Some stickers add a trophy stand drop +x, so you might wanna check those out.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

I can't wait to play Brawl and at least try it out or something. I want to play as Lucario and see how he pans out compared to how Mewtwo played out in Melee.:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Yep, it's the Dojo's end, but not without a final Thank You letter and Brawl Trivia. Most of that stuff I already knew, but man that was a lot to read. Thanks for the info PMJ. You're a God-send.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

A good thing to remember when attempting Intense mode is this:

It's not a race.

You aren't being timed. There's no rush. Take things slow, stay calm, and you will clear the mode no sweat. A lot of my failures were either from trying too much to get that extra hit or two in, or getting one-shotted by the end boss.

Take some time to get used to the mode. After doing Intense for so long, I suddenly went back to Easy mode just to clear it with everyone else and WOW was I surprised at how sloooooooow and weak the bosses are (especially Rayquaza). Once you've learned the speeds at which each boss will do his move, find a way to avoid it as best you can. Once you've gotten that down for all the boss's attacks, find a way to hit the boss once or twice - C-stick smashes work wonders here - between their attacks.

Again, if you only hit him once, that's fine. The goal is for you to not take any damage. This is especially true for characters who can't absorb or reflect anything (although I admit I have only attempted Intense with Fox and Ness, and only completed with Ness (9 defeated with Fox though)).

If requested I can offer boss-specific strategies.

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

Well, Easy is pretty easy; the bosses go down really quick. I'm not that good, so I can't dodge everything though, which is why I wouldn't last one Boss on Intense. :p

LOL. This reminds me about how to pound Bowser in Mario Party DS except that it is not Smash Bros related. Basically you have to do the same for Bowser in Mario party DS when battling his snake form.:)

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

I saw a couple videos today of someone who was going down the Challenge list, and he didn't use a single Hammer. :O He also got all 700 stickers. My guess is he'll do Trophies next. :D

RE: The official Super Smash Bros Brawl thread.

There are a lot more trophies compare to Melee. I have all but 6 trophies in Melee but I don't remember the exact amount of trophies there are to get. I have not played Melee for a very long time.:)
