I've been playing around with Gimp for a little while recently, and after watching many tutorials and eventually branching out from them, I've created a few banners, avatars, and other neat graphics.

Rules
1. Do not request banners here. You can request them in my shop over at Slateport Market.
2. For the time being, do not use anything I post in this thread. However, if there is a certain Pokemon you would like to see me include in a banner, feel free to mention that.
3. Comments are always welcome, but I won't respond to anything along the lines of just "this sucks" or "i like it". Feel free to elaborate on your opinion, whether it be positive or negative.

Text Banners
The first banners I will show you are inspired by a tutorial from Youtube member "jxtutorials". His tutorials are some of the best and most easy to understand Gimp tutorials around Youtube. Credit goes to Obsidian Dawn for the "Urban Design Vector" brushes.

I guess you have a thing for those Splatter Brush sigs. For a beginner, they are very good! What font did you use for the Garchomp/ST17 sig?

The font I used for the two text banners is called "Amsterdam Graffiti", which can be found at dafont.com. Thanks for commenting, Gliscor. I truly appreciate it :)

Edit: Updated with a new banner "Castelia". It's for a project I'm working on at the moment. I'm also working on a similar text banner, except with a silhouetted image of Castelia City. I may also change the text font, as I have been experimenting with that as well.

What I might do is start over with my series of banners, except I would use a wider variety of fonts and brushes- these are just tests as I work to improve my skill in Gimp.

Just an opinion, I think the words would look better if they blended more into the background (sort of like the "#181" in the ampharos banner). They are currently the main foreground and overshadow even the pokemon used in the pic.

Yeah, I've noticed that. I intend on making any future banners so that the text doesn't exactly "pop" as much as it does in the two Pokemon banners. Thanks for the comment, I appreciate it.

One thing I would advise for the Garchomp and Ampharos banners is to put a stroke around the Pokemon to help it blend with the type.

But personally, I'm a big fan of bold type like that. I wouldn't ditch that style completely, just try to find ways of making it flow with the background elements a little more.

These are still pretty good, though. Keep it up :D

Thanks for the comment, I'm actually experimenting with these banners so that the render nor the text sticks out like a sore thumb. I appreciate the advice, AadmM :)
 
Updated with a link to my shop in Slateport Market. I plan on posting more banners later this weekend.
