What do you think of them? A challenge to test your intellect? Just another test? Maybe you think it's the best thing since sliced bread? Or maybe you think that the devil himself came up with it JUST TO TORTURE YOU. In this thread, we'll discuss this topic. let your voice be heard!

I think*************(insert cuss words there). Waste of time, especially at my house since they won't let us bring anything when you're done. We got like 2-3 hours and I finished in less than 1/2 hour. I hate being smart sometimes.

We have them at my school. And we can have mints and candy while we have the tests.

If there are any 7th graders in ohio, what did you think of that train question? I got the equation S=2C+1 and the quadratic formula is -b +- Square root of b squared -4ac/2a.

Pfft.

Anyways, I have to take these things called the OAT. (Ohio Achievement Test)

We have two and a half hours to complete a certain subject area. Today just happened to be Reading. It was easy, don't get me wrong it was just simply too long of a time period to take one test, without being allowed to bring any other books into the room with us.

I hate testing! It's easy, but really boring. They give us 2-3 hours and everyone is always done an hour early. Then you just have to sit there, looking at the clock, waiting for it to be over.
The reading parts of the test are always the worst because the storys make me want to fall asleep. :p

Thats weird, i took math today.

I think they are a great way for your school/the state to find out what you know and that they should keep using them! *gets shot* Seriously though, they aren't that bad. The timing is really dumb, but they need to give everyone enough time. Some people don't work as fast as others. Take the ACT/SAT then get back to me on timing issues. I barely finished them...

Oh also: KEEP GIVING STANDARDIZED TESTS! MAKE THEM MORE DIFFICULT! :D (I only say this because I am almost done with High School and you guys haven't even started. >:p)

Hate them.
I'm in sixth grade, but I'm learning stuff that's up to 9th grade such as Algebra and Chem. and Latin. (Outside program)
I hate NY Public education, WHICH is why i'm going to private school next year.

Pre-al is 5th grade in my school. Do you mean basic stuff like 3X+2=17 or stuff like : find the x int(s) using the quadratic formula: -;125X-.666X+ X(13.5/ .25)

I think they just want to keep tabs on who's smart and who's not. But this time they're actually judging smartness right. I don't do homework, but I do very very well on tests so I get B's. When I do good on these, it only makes the councellors give me more crapp

I can't stand the testing we have. Now we have to be Proficient or we don't get our diplomas. They did this because 90 percent of the kids taking the tests don't really care.

We finished testing weeks ago in my school. :p
In Arizona, we have AIMS(Arizona's Instrument to Measure Standards)
I spent all but two hours of a school day in homeroom on the test. We did 2tests a day(3 on the 2nd to final day). It might turn to more since they just added science and might add Social Studies. All we could do is read(or whisper if you don't get caught ;]), and we were allowed to bring snacks. I get done pretty quick so I was so bored when I finished, but our teacher was cool enough to takes us to the P.E.coach to play some games in between the tests. :)

It is easy, but very boring. I never complained though because it was an easy out of class.

In middle school I could not try in all my classes and never get held back because I did so damn well on the testing. The school realized I was just really lazy.

I hate them. Colleges look at them as a big determining factor when deciding if they want to except you, even though these test prove absolutely nothing about your actual grade and skill level.

Lol America.

In Asia (or my country and others, at least), paper qualifications mean everything.

You live in singapore right? I'm also asian, and i know how much your test scores mean. I think that a more guided test is better, since most test mistakes are usually accidents, or mis-reads.
