I know... There are so many sci-fi series out there that are labeled "Star"-this or "Space"-that, but this one I think is different. This series started in the early-to-mid 1990s with a movie about a group of soldiers and scientists who travel to an alien planet through a device that creates wormholes (the Stargate). Since then, this show developed into a long-running series with spin-offs and a couple movies. And I was wondering if anyone else has ever watched or heard of it?
 
Considering it's one of the longest running and most popular television sci-fi shows, I'm pretty sure we've heard of it.

I'm of the opinion it's enjoyable, but nowhere near the caliber of the film.

I agree with you. The series seems more of a re-write than an addition.
