Starting a league

Random question for those here who run leagues.

How exactly does one start a league? I've registered an account on pokemon.com and been trying to get to the application page, but it keeps saying I don't have permission.

So I tried to take the professor exam to see if that would help...And it won't let me take it. How exactly does one GAIN permission to these? Do you need a POP ID? And if so, is there any way to obtain one without going to an event? The whole reason I'm trying to start a league is because there are ZERO events within 70 miles of where I live. How does one bring POP to them so they can participate when in fact you must go to a nearby event to start one in the first place?

I think perhaps PUSA did not take this into account? Any help is welcome!

You need to get in contact with a PTO in your area to see whats up and what are plans and such and also you need to apply for a league on the POP site.

If you don't already have one, you will need either a POP ID or Player ID. You also need to be 18 to run a league according to information I found on the Professor Forums. As to if you can get an ID without going to an event, technically yes I do have Player IDs right now. I don't know how you can add it to your account though if you haven't gone to an event.

18? I'm 22. I don't think age will be much of an issue :p

ID though... that's the tricky part. So you can't be issued a POP member number etc without attending an event?

Judging by your location, you might be the one I go get one from. I live in Eau Claire if you know where that is. The Dells are a 2 hour drive for me. But if I only have to go once and be able to get an ID, would that be enough to add it to my account?

I believe you get a POP ID when you register an account. At least that's how I got mine 5 years ago.

It says to go to an event and get one from the organizer. I'm trying to make sense of all this and know for sure what I have to do...before driving that far for something that i may be able to do from home. Gas prices are quite crippling

Ok. Log in to your account on Pokemon.com, go to your profile. Go to My OP. In big bold characters right at the top, it should say "Player ID: XXXXXX" If you see that, then you already have an ID number. I am quite certain that you get one when you register an account. Unless for some stupid reason they went and changed it in the past 5 years.

I believe you can actually make an account without an ID number. I know Parents don't have to have an ID when they create an account and add a child to their account.
